Timothee Chalamet Will Star As Young Willy Wonka In New Movie Musical

Timothee Chalamet is set to take on an iconic role!

It was just revealed that the 25-year-old actor will star as a young Willy Wonka in an upcoming Warner Bros movie titled Wonka, according to Variety.

The movie’s plot details are being kept on the low, but it will reportedly “explore the upbringing of the man who later created the world-famous house of confectionary treats.”

Timothee will also be putting his singing and dancing skills to use in the upcoming movie, his reps confirmed to Variety.

Wonka will be directed by Paul King, with Harry Potter‘s David Heyman as producer and a script by Simon Rich. The movie is expected to begin production this September and release in theaters on March 17, 2023.

This will be third time that Willy Wonka has been portrayed in a film. Gene Wilder famously brought the Roald Dahl character to life in 1971′s Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and Johnny Depp took it on in Tim Burton‘s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in 2005.
