Gina Rodriguez & Jonathan Groff Join the Cast of Netflix Family Series 'Lost Ollie'

Gina Rodriguez & Jonathan Groff Join the Cast of Netflix Family Series 'Lost Ollie'

Netflix has announced it’s cast for the upcoming limited series Lost Ollie!

Gina Rodriguez and Jonathan Groff are among the voice cast of the animated show.

Here’s a synopsis: Lost Ollie is the story of a lost toy on an epic adventure, searching across the country for the boy who lost him, and the story of the boy who lost more than a best friend. A heartwarming journey to reunite in the face of all the dangers that childhood can throw at them. The limited series is inspired by the book “Ollie’s Odyssey” by renowned author and illustrator William Joyce.

Jonathan will play Ollie, a handmade toy rabbit stitched together from odds and ends. Ollie has a pure spirit with a heart of gold and never ruins a chance to make friends. He’s been best friends with Billy since forever, until one day he ends up in a resale shop with no way home. Though he’s often afraid of the unknown, Ollie puts on a brave face and sets off to find Billy, meeting other toys to help him along the way.

Gina will voice Momma. Billy’s mother Sharon is a loving woman who inspires creativity and imagination in her son. She makes sure to cherish their time together, teaching Billy all the things he’ll need to know to find happiness in the future.

Also joining the voice cast includes Jake Johnson as Daddy, Mary J Blige as Rosy, Tim Blake Nelson as Zozo and Kesler Talbot as Billy.

This 'Jane The Virgin' Star Has a Cameo In 'Dash & Lily' That You Might Have Missed!

This 'Jane The Virgin' Star Has a Cameo In 'Dash & Lily' That You Might Have Missed!

There’s one specific cameo in the new Netflix series Dash & Lily that you may have not noticed!

Within the holiday show, there’s a fake Pixar movie called Collation, about a romance between a couple of office supplies, a piece of paper and a stapler.

The fictional movie becomes a (no pun intended) staple throughout the course of the show, and at one point, Lily (Midori Francis) mentions that she loves when the highlighter encourages the stapler to “Be bold.”

Well, that highlighter’s line was delivered by none other than Jane The Virgin‘s Gina Rodriguez, who actually has a connection to one of the series’ directors and executive producers Brad Silberling, who helped the cameo come to fruition.

“Brad Silberling, one of our producers who also directed the first two episodes, was also a producer and director on Jane the Virgin,” showrunner Joe Tracz told TV Line. “So he was like, ‘You know, I think I could get Gina to do it.’ He reached out her, she was like, ‘Totally!’ and she recorded a bunch of different takes of the line. It was so much fun to actually get to pay off one of these writers’ room jokes that we had.”

“There was so much Collation stuff that got cut for time. Our favorite writers’ room parlor game was figuring out which celebrities would voice which office supplies. ‘What punny catchphrases do they all have?’ At one point, we imagined Oprah voicing a Post-It note that said, ‘Stick with love!’ Between all of the writers, we pretty much cast Collation. If Pixar gave us a call, we’d be happy to work with them on that.”

Fun fact: The artist who illustrated the movie poster for Collation, Katy Wu, has actually worked as Pixar sketch artist!

In case you missed it, find out which other celebs had cameos in Dash & Lily, whose appearances you definitely couldn’t miss.
