Ivana Baquero Says 'The Shannara Chronicles' Was A Challenge At First

Ivana Baquero Says 'The Shannara Chronicles' Was A Challenge At First

Ivana Baquero looks cute and fun in her feature for NKD Magazine!

The 23-year-old actress dished on her role in The Shannara Chronicles, her first television show!

“It was a challenge at first because she starts off doing things that are easily judged. Her behaviors were a little bit, you know, rough. She didn’t trust Will so she would do strange things,” Ivana said. “She grew up in a very tough, hostile atmosphere, she was abused as a kid so you really understand where she comes from.”

“I grew so fond of her, and it’s my first TV show so having the opportunity to play a character for so long versus the cinema or movies where you play a character for two or three months, I’ve now played Eretria for a good, solid year,” she continued. “I feel really connected to her. There’s so many things we have in common.” But the fans couldn’t be more shocked when they meet Ivana in real life. “I look so different from her, and I sound so different. People see me in person and they’re like ‘Oh my God! You’re Eretria! You look so sweet and little and cute! You don’t look like her at all you don’t act like her!’”

'Shannara Chronicles' Ivana Baquero Wants A Third Season of The Show For This Reason

The Shannara Chronicles will air its’ final two episodes of the second season later tonight — and to be honest, we are just not ready for it to end!

It seems that the second season of the fantasy television series just started and it looks like Ivana Baquero, who plays Eretria, is starting a campaign for a third season with the fans of the show.

Speaking with TV Junkies recently, Ivana opened up about how Eretria’s sexuality wants her to keep telling these stories.

“The show has other things like many more diverse characters, and amazing female characters,” she shared. “To be in a show that has all those things is so unique and it makes me want for it to have a third season so, so bad, because I feel it covers so many things, and so many people can feel connected to it.”

We are so game for a third season…and a fourth and fifth, too. Anyone else?

Stay tuned for a sneak peek of tonight’s season finale!

Ivana Baquero Feels 'Lucky' To Be Part of a Positive LGBTQ Story on 'Shannara Chronicles'

Ivana Baquero Feels 'Lucky' To Be Part of a Positive LGBTQ Story on 'Shannara Chronicles'

There aren’t that many shows where you really do see a positive, and still standing LGBTQ relationship at the moment — but The Shannara Chronicles is doing it.

Star Ivana Baquero, who plays Eretria on the Spike series, calls herself one of the lucky ones to be able to be a part of the conversation.

“I honestly think it’s so awesome,” she shared in a recent interview with TV Junkies. “I had so many people approach me in Season 1, in fact, about the Amberle and Eretria relationship, and be so passionate about it, and tell me how they felt represented, and how there’s not much of it on TV.”

Ivana says that Eretria’s relationship with Lyria actually came as a surprise to her for season two.

“Season 2 isn’t based on the books, it’s the gap between the second and third books,” she reminded fans. “When I found out she had this relationship I felt so lucky to be able to portray that.”

Ivana continues, “People may like it more or less, or they may feel more or less connected to the story, but we truly did it with so much love, and we hope that they like it.”

“…The show has other things like many more diverse characters, and amazing female characters. To be in a show that has all those things is so unique and it makes me want for it to have a third season so, so bad, because I feel it covers so many things, and so many people can feel connected to it. I feel so, so lucky.”

The Shannara Chronicles airs Wednesdays on Spike.

Austin Butler Teases What Wil Is Doing & Feeling in 'Shannara Chronicles' Season 2

Austin Butler Teases What Wil Is Doing & Feeling in 'Shannara Chronicles' Season 2

Austin Butler teams up with his co-stars Vanessa Morgan, Ivana Baquero, and Manu Bennett for a shot on the press line during 2017 New York Comic Con over the weekend.

The Shannara Chronicles stars spoke about the upcoming second season, which premieres on Wednesday on Spike.

In the new season, it’s a year later and people are not reacting to the re-introduction of magic well and it’s something that Austin‘s Wil is feeling too, and in despair.

“Because it is a year later, I just really played with that feeling of despair,” Austin shared. “The feeling of like, ‘I’m doing my best but what am I here for?’”

He adds about seeing Wil in the place he was after in the first place: “It was really interesting to have the same character but really dig into that. Think about – when life starts getting really messy and we start changing as humans. Are we the same person? Can we find love again? Can we find hope again?”

Meanwhile, Manu (Allanon) opened up about one scene that even took him by surprise.

“There’s a big game changer half way through the season that really surprised me,” he says. “They sort of kept it as a big secret and that’s all I can say…”

He added, “But what I do know is that those things we’re talking about in the first season about Allanon’s involvement and relationship with various characters, I got a lot of opportunity this season to get gritty with quite a few characters actually. Wil is one of them.”

Be sure to check back for more Shannara info and tune into the premiere on Wednesday, October 11th on Spike!
