Jared Padalecki Says It's 'Pretty Magical' To Be Working & Living with Wife Genevieve Again

Jared Padalecki Says It's 'Pretty Magical' To Be Working & Living with Wife Genevieve Again

Jared and Genevieve Padalecki are working together fairly regularly these days!

The 38-year-old actor stars on Walker as Cordell Walker, while his 40-year-old wife has a recurring role as his character’s late wife.

Genevieve‘s Emily often appears in sort of a ghost like capacity, as well as flashbacks, and will talk to Cordell and offer advice. Season one centers around Cordell trying to find who killed his wife and bring them to justice.

With the duo living and working together in Texas, Jared says that it has been “pretty magical” and reveals what they sometimes do to have some alone time without their kids.

“During Covid times my kids cannot come to set…but I can have my wife there because she’s on the show as well. It’s date day!” he shared on The Talk. “I’ll admit there have been a few times where we’ve been on set and it will be 5pm and we’re both wrapped, [we say] let’s tell the babysitter we’re still filming and let’s go get some sushi.”

If you missed it, Walker was one of many CW shows that received early renewals!

Jared Padalecki Says New 'Walker' Reboot Is 'Not a Cop Show'

Jared Padalecki Says New 'Walker' Reboot Is 'Not a Cop Show'

Jared Padalecki opens up about his new show Walker!

The 38-year-old stars as the title character, Cordell Walker, in the reimagined version of the original Walker, Texas Ranger series.

Ahead of the series premiere, Jared dished on the difference between the two – mainly that the new show is not what people would assume it would be.

“This Walker is not a cop show as people would probably assume it might be because of the original. This Walker is more of a family drama, it’s more about human experience than it is about Walker, Texas Ranger wheel-kicking people walking down the street,” he told ET. “He’s a guy bound by duty but who has a very real connection to those around him and sees people as people.”

The new show will however, tackle some current issues going on in the US.

“We confront head-on a lot of issues we’re dealing with. The way people of color are treated and the way minorities in general are treated, not only just with law enforcement but with school and with politics and with industry in general. I think a lot of what we try to do in the show is give voice to the voiceless in the best way that we can,” Jared shared.

“We’re still trying to entertain and we can’t just be a dark, dramatic show that makes people sad. We want to make people laugh and cry and think… We’re a very different world — a world of a lot more accountability and a world where we really have to deal with issues that have been ignored for so long,” he added.

Walker premieres TONIGHT (January 21) at 8pm ET/PT on The CW.

The 31-year-old former Pretty Little Liars actor stars as Cordell Walker’s (Jared Padalecki) younger, gay, conservative brother William, aka Liam.

Here’s a synopsis for the premiere episode: Texas Ranger Cordell Walker (J Padalecki), a widower and father of two with his own moral code, returns home to Austin, TX, after being undercover for two years, only to discover there’s harder work to be done at home.

As Walker attempts to reconnect with his creative and thoughtful son August (Culley) and his headstrong, somewhat rebellious teenaged daughter Stella (Brinson), he finds that he needs to navigate clashes with his family – Liam (Allen), Walker’s ADA brother who stepped in during Walker’s absence, his perceptive mother Abeline (Hagen) and his traditional rancher father Bonham (Pileggi).

Walker’s former colleague, Larry James (Bell), is now his Ranger Captain. And Walker finds unexpected common ground with his new partner Micki Ramirez (Morgan), one of the first women in Texas Rangers’ history while growing increasingly suspicious about the circumstances surrounding his wife’s death (G Padalecki).

Walker will premiere on Thursday, January 21st at 8pm ET/PT. Watch the trailer here!
