Kendall Schmidt knows a thing or two about being in a boy band — he was in one for five years.
Speaking with J-14 at the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Awards last weekend, the former Big Time Rush singer revealed what it really takes to be in a boy band.
“A lot of push-ups,” he smartly replied, before adding that looking hot is half of it too. “You gotta look how, as you can tell.”
Kendall adds, getting serious about what makes or breaks a boy band: “No, for real. It’s longevity. Working together. Great music, and just having a good time. That’s the main key.”
“If it’s too stressful, it won’t work.”
Kendall also shared about how work ethic also plays into being in a boy band.
The singer shared a new pic of him with his on-screen family, Challen Cates and Ciara Bravo, on Instagram, who came to support him with Heffron Drive‘s new single, “Mad at the World”, with bandmate Dustin Belt.
If you remember, the three actors starred as the Knight family on the Nickelodeon show. Challen was Jennifer Knight, the mom put in charge of the boys as they relocated to Los Angeles from Minnesota.
Ciara starred as Kendall‘s younger sister, Katie, who was definitely smarter than all the boys put together.

Kendall Schmidt and James Maslow shared a few pics on social media after reuniting for a Koffee with Kendall episode.
The two former Big Time Rush bandmates and stars are still super close after all this time and we love it!
“‘Kames’,” Kendall poked fun at their shipper name on Instagram. “Sorry to keep the nickname going, but that caption is just too good.”
He adds, “For real, so much fun having @jamesmaslow on @koffeewithkendall today. Seems like just yesterday we were traveling the world together. So happy to still be close after all this time!”
If you don’t know, Koffee with Kendall is Kendall‘s digital media show, which he airs on his Instagram Stories and Facebook every week.
Kendall Schmidt is clearly still a hunk as he steps out at the Eva Longoria Foundation Annual Dinner held at The Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills on Thursday night (October 12).
“Stoked to be at #DinnerwithEva to support the @evalongoriafoundation. Congrats on a beautiful event @evalongoria!” Kendall wrote on Instagram afterwards.

Heffron Drive are making our Friday so much better with a brand new single and video for “One Way Ticket”!
The guys — Kendall Schmidt and Dustin Belt — caught up with JJJ to talk about the song and shooting the video, which was directed by Wesley Quinn.
“We focused our attention on making ‘One Way Ticket’ feel as nostalgic as possible,” Kendall shares with us.
“This song reminds us of some of our favorite bands like Jimmy Eat World and Third Eye Blind and we did our best to lock in that sound!”
They both added that the video came together in quite a crazy way.
“What you are seeing was actually a last minute decision to have a much simpler but dynamic video,” Kendall adds. “Dustin and I originally had three shoot days planned with lots of moving parts, but after we shot the first day in the studio, I decided then and there that we had completed the video.”
“We also felt that the video fit in perfectly with the bands new imagining. Funny how it happened, but I wouldn’t change it for anything. I love the outcome!”
