Lorde is looking stunning in her appearance on the red carpet at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards held at The Forum on Sunday (August 27) in Inglewood, Calif.
The 20-year-old singer kicked off what will absolutely be a memorable evening and we are giving the “Green Light” entertainer our green light on her fashion choice!
“Behind the scenes of a world i dreamt up and brought to life with my favourite crew,” Lorde added along with a slideshow on Instagram. “Grant, what a joy to make things with you and spend hours talking s–t in directors’ chairs on beaches at midnight. i love you!!! hope you guys enjoy the video in all its joy, boredom, pain, self-medication and surreality.”

The 20-year-old opened up about her new music, why she doesn’t play instruments and her creative process. Check it:
On why she doesn’t play any instruments: “I’m hyper-musical, but I don’t really play anything. I write the songs with different chords because I know exactly what I want chord-wise, and then I sing out the chords. I’m very musical, just not in the traditional way, I guess.”
On her creative process: “I make work to challenge myself. The process is very much about me having a conversation with myself. It’s a very private process, and so I feel like I’ve run a marathon by the time it comes out. I do love that people hear the work; I think I would be sad if people didn’t.”
On the importance of writing “true” music: “The main thing is that you’re the only one who has to go home and still be you and live with what you’ve done that day. And so when it comes to making a decision about something, if people say I should [be] a certain way, I think, ‘You guys get to go home and take off the hat; [but] I never get to take off the hat.’”
Lorde has responded to all of the headlines saying that she is no longer a member of Taylor Swift‘s squad by reaffirming that she is dear friends with the country-turned-pop singer.
“Something of a frustrating thing to have to address online,” the 20-year-old “Green Light” singer wrote in a statement on Twitter. “Taylor is a dear friend. I love her very much. In the interview in question I had been talking about Bowie and Patti Smith” as idols of hers, “not Taylor!”
She goes on to describe the “squad,” saying that she finds the idea of it “frustrating.”
“It was never some exclusive club,” she says, “but a wide circle of people, some of whom I know…forgive me for the mild eyeroll I popped when it was brought up as if we’re all blood members of a secret cult.”
She goes on to say that she hates the rumors and headlines, and clarifies that Taylor “has been there for me in all of my dark and light moments these past 5 years.”
There you have it — squad or no squad, Lorde and Taylor are still fast friends.
If you’ve been considering Lorde as a member of Taylor Swift‘s squad for the past couple years, it seems you thought wrong!
The 20-year-old singer seemed to distance herself from the squad in a new interview, in which she said she doesn’t hang out with those people at all.
“The second you think too hard about it, you just go insane, so it’s best to be like, ‘We’re in wonderland. That’s just what happens around here,’” she said when asked how she copes with meeting her idols. “Also, I don’t hang out with these people at all.”
When the Sunrise interviewer said she’s a member of Taylor‘s squad, she responded, “You know, you make friends in different places, but I think for the most part I’m not, like, calling my idols for advice necessarily.”
She sang 10 tracks – including hits like “Greenlight” and “Perfect Places” from her new album Melodrama – for about 1,200 people. She also belted out some of her older hits like “Royals,” “Magnets,” and “Team.”
Speaking about her new album, she told the crowd, “It’s all of the most intense moments of your adult life. It’s the saddest that you’ve ever been, or the happiest you’ve ever been. Or it’s feeling as lonely as you can possibly imagine, sitting in your living room touching your own cheek just to feel like someone’s there. That’s Melodrama.” (via The Guardian)
