“I think it could be daunting if we were taking on the same [exact] roles in a different time, but we’re all different,” Sarah says. “I’m excited for the audience to get to know individually.”
The three also spoke about how they film with CGI monsters.
“Sometimes there’s a proxy that comes in and is a guide for the cameras and us to work it, but other times we don’t see anything at all. It’s using your imagination,” Sarah says.
Melonie added, “It was a learning curve.”

Sarah Jeffery looks so cute on the red carpet while supporting her new series Charmed at The Paley Center’s PaleyFest Fall Preview event on Saturday (September 8) in Beverly Hills, Calif.
The show’s co-executive producer Jessica O’Toole says that the show will take time to “organically show the women handling current issues, without lecturing the audience. Even before the election, we always wanted to explore that link between strong women and witchcraft.â€
Madeleine said the show is tackling these issues “because in this day and age you have to be upfront about which side you’re on,” according to Variety.
Sarah Jeffery, Melonie Diaz and Madeleine Mantock gather up together for a gorgeous shot during the 2018 Summer Television Critics Association Press Tour on Monday (August 6) at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.
The three Charmed actors joined the creative team at the event to talk about the upcoming series, which will premiere on Sundays on The CW this fall.
The biggest reveal of all was that all three sisters will have a different father.
Mel, Macy and Maggie’s ethnic backgrounds will come up on the show in different ways, showrunner Jennie Snyder Urmanshared.
“In my travels, most of the people I’ve talked to are happy that (the characters are) not white because we’ve had a chance to see three white witches,” she said. “[Working on Jane The Virgin, I] learned more about what it’s like to see yourself on-screen and see yourself be the hero of the story, and that’s really important to us.”
Jennie added, “We want to explore each of their unique heritages and the interesting ways that different cultures intersect with witchcraft, because there is a really rich tradition in a lot of different cultures and we want to explore that.”
Sarah Jeffery, Melonie Diaz and Madeleine Mantock step up their style game for the Summer 2018 TCA Press Tour held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on Monday (August 6) in Beverly Hills, Calif.
The three actresses opened up about the new Charmedseries, which is set to debut on Sundays, this fall on the CW.
The network also released a brand new promo for the show, which find the reunited sisters – Mel, Maggie and Macy – trying to find out who murdered their mother, all while dealing with their newfound magical powers.
“We’re new characters living in a world. It’s a new set of witches who’ve discovered they have powers. I think it’s maybe a misconception to say it’s a rip-off,†Madeleine shared with US Weekly in a new interview.
She adds that the positive remarks are what they all are paying attention to: “I saw somebody yesterday describe it as a tribute to [the original] and I thought that was quite nice.â€
“Some of them [original stars] have been vocal about giving support,” Sarah adds. “Rose [McGowan] I know was [supportive]…She said, ‘Fly girls fly’ and that was so kind of her to say that. It was really nice.â€
Madeleine continued that “everyone’s allowed their own opinion and I think it’s testament to how much fans really love and cherished Charmed for what it is.”
“There are lots of people who are really excited for it. So I’ve got my ears open to them and I’m hoping we can turn some people on to it as well because I do, I think it’s a really good show.”
Sarah Jeffery is joined by her co-stars from Charmed while attending their show’s panel at 2018 Comic-Con on Thursday (July 19) in San Diego, Calif.
The 22-year-old actress posed alongside Melonie Diaz and Madeleine Mantock. During the panel, they explained why they want fans of the original series to give the new show a chance.
“We come in peace. I think the original was so wonderful, and they were really trailblazers and we could not be here without them,” Madeleine said during the panel (via IndieWire).
“There are core similarities with the original show… I hope [fans] embrace it… We want to honor it properly while bringing a modern twist. Just — come with us, see if you like it,” Sarah added.
