The Johnson family – Yara Shahidi (Zoey), Marcus Scribner (Junior), Marsai Martin (Diane) and Miles Brown (Jack), along with Anthony Anderson (Dre), Tracee Ellis Ross (Rainbow), Jenifer Lewis (Ruby) and Laurence Fishburne (Pops) – all got animated for half of an upcoming one hour election special. The youngest Devonte Johnson, played by twins Austin and Berlin Gross, did not get the animated treatment.

Here’s a synopsis: Junior is excited for his first time voting but discovers he has been purged from the voter polls so he does a deep dive into why – trying to understand the systems in place for voter registration.

In part two, the animated episode, Dre’s colleague Stevens (Peter Mackenzie) makes an ill-advised decision to run for Congress, so Dre enlists his family’s help and campaigns against him but gets caught up with fundraising and private interest groups.

The “Election Special” will air on October 4th at 10pm ET on ABC. Then, season seven will premiere in it’s regular time slot on Wednesday, October 21 at 9:30pm ET.

Marcus Scribner is playing a game of “Would You Rather?”

The 20-year-old black-ish actor teamed up with DoSomething.org and HSBC for the nationwide financial literacy campaign that teaches young people how to make and save money, while social distancing during COVID-19.

“For lots of people my age, dealing with money can feel intimidating, overwhelming, and honestly just stressful. That’s why I’m so pumped about ‘Would You Rather?’, because young people can
learn really important stuff about making and saving money just by taking the kind of quiz they would take online anyway,” Marcus said in a press release.

For the campaign, young people will answer five amusing financial questions, and after each question, they will receive a personal finance tip and, ultimately a comprehensive digital personal finance guide they can use and share with friends to take control of their financial lives. Students around the country will also be able to use the campaign’s resources to facilitate in-person financial literacy workshops at their schools and communities.
