Miley Cyrus is sharing an unreleased song titled “Mary Jane.”
The new release of the track comes after the 28-year-old singer lost her beloved dog and best friend Mary Jane.
“I wrote this song in Malibu years ago on a piano in a house that no longer exists. About my dog Mary Jane who is also gone now,” she wrote on Instagram. “A lot has changed over time. Mostly me. Music is my medicine. This song revolves around loss & heartache. Which I am currently experiencing after Mary Jane’s passing.”
“MJ was a true queen. She wore her grace, dignity & kindness like a crown. She will never be forgotten and will forever be missed. To know her is to love her. It has been my honor being her mom and best friend. #RestInParadise” Miley added.
She shared another video of herself from inside the booth when she recorded the song in early 2018 in New York.

Miley Cyrus shared some sad news with fans on Thursday (January 7).
The 28-year-old “Midnight Sky” singer revealed that her dog Mary Jane, or MJ, is no longer with us.
Miley shared a long message about her pup, and how she has had multiple types of cancer and tumors for over a year.
“Anyone knows me & it doesn’t have to be well is aware that my best friend in the whole world is a rescued pit bull mix named Mary Jane,” she wrote. “MJ was diagnosed with cancer over a year ago …. & since then multiple types and tumors. I was told it’d be an uncertain amount of time until she’s gone. Advised to spend every second savoring her special spirit…. which wasn’t anything new. I had been for 10 years.”
“I thanked her repeatedly as she took her last breath for who and what she has been to me,” Miley continued. “It was something more than a friend or family member. Something so different. You can’t define it. Our connection was purely DIVINE. An incomparable love.”

The 28-year-old singer opened the Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve 2021 special on Thursday night (December 31) by performing her smash hit song and she wore a festive American flag outfit for the performance.

The 28-year-old singer’s latest record debuted in the number one spot on the Billboard Rock chart, and number two on the Billboard 200 list.
This marks Miley‘s sixth number one album overall, and with it’s No 2 debut on the 200 chart, she now has the most top 10 album debuts on the chart for any female artist this century!
Miley shared a video of her reaction when she was told the news, and she definitely got emotional.
“It’s official. #PlasticHearts is the #1 rock record in the country. My mind is blown and my heart is overwhelmed with gratitude. Thank YOU to every creative collaborator involved on this project! If one person was missing I would not be writing this message. @billboard,” she wrote in the caption of the video. Check it out below!

We’ve been waiting so long for Miley Cyrus‘ album Plastic Hearts to be released and now it is here… and we are loving it so much!
The 28-year-old singer is bringing us a cool punk rock vibe with this new music and she’s earning some incredible reviews for her work.
The album features collaborations with Dua Lipa and punk rock icons Billy Idol and Joan Jett. Make sure to watch the “Prisoner” video with Dua, which was released last week.
Miley has said that the album was shaped by her divorce from Liam Hemsworth, which was finalized in early 2020, from the loss of her Malibu home in the California wildfires, and her struggles with addiction.
“I have the artist torture thing going on, too, where I’m a little conflict-seeking because it’s creative,†she told Apple Music. “I like to feel sad sometimes. And I like to feel happy. I really like to feel. It’s inspiring to me.â€
