Our thoughts and condolences are with Miley Cyrus and her family during this difficult time.
The 27-year-old singer took to social media on Saturday (August 22) and revealed that her beloved grandmother, who she called Mammie, has died.
“Even though you are gone…. NOTHING has or ever will change. You will FOREVER be my inspiration and fashion icon. Even more than that the ultimate model of being a true LIGHT in a dark world. You are sunshine,” Miley wrote on Instagram with a slideshow of photos and videos.
She continued, “Everyday I wake and see that fiery ball in the sky I will see your face. Then say a prayer thanking heaven above for giving me the best grandmother a girl could ever be gifted. I will miss you for the rest of my life…. I will keep your spirit here by continuing to do good for others and treating them the way we all desire to be treated. With an infinite amount of the same gentle kindness you displayed daily. We will ache everyday you are not with us.”
Miley Cyrus is opening up about making her track “We Can’t Stop“!
The 27-year-old dished to Zane Lowe on Apple Music about what seeing the music video reminds her of.
“I’ll tell you a funny story about ‘We Can’t Stop’ that I always like to think about. Every time I hear the song or see the video, I think about this,” Miley said. “I started working on that record when I was at a house party in LA and I was like sitting up on the rooftop and every night we were watching the sun come up, which I do that in the music video. And I went and told Mike WiLL, this is what I really want to write about. What I’m living right now, and what I’m experiencing. And I was coming off of the Hannah and all the different things.”
“But one night I was partying with all my friends and we all got kind of messed up and went and laid by the fire,” she continued. “And I fell asleep and I had on Doc Martens, these big stacked rubber Doc Martens, and I had passed out and when I woke up, my shoes had melted because they had been by the fire for so long and my feet looked like big monster blobs. And I was like going to leave and I’m like, holy.. My shoes melted.”
“I actually looked like I had blobbed cartoon feet and I didn’t put that in the video, but every time I listen to this song, I see my Doc Marten blob feet because it just makes me where I am now and where I was then it’s just in total I was on such a different path,” Miley shared. “When I listen to that song, I think of that memory and it makes me really happy because it like I think music can teleport you. My mom has her song that she listened to in her Trans-Am and had her first kiss or whatever. And it kind of takes you there so I love that about ‘We Can’t Stop.’ And so each song in my life has an element of that. Has an element of it takes me back to a time.”
Miley Cyrus is looking back on a cameo role she had in Disney Channel’s High School Musical 2!
The 27-year-old “Midnight Sky” singer retweeted a fan that posted the clip, but with her new single playing instead of the actual song.
“I don’t remember this scene of HSM2? @MileyCyrus @MileyOfficial,” the fan wrote, to which Miley responded, “I do”.
If you didn’t know, as fans remembered and looked back on in the replies, Disney Channel held polls before HSM2 came out, to choose which Hannah Montana star you wanted to see appear in the movie.
Miley was chosen and she appeared in the final song in the movie, “All For One,” which featured a pool party scene, and she can be seen dancing for just a few seconds.

During a radio interview on Friday morning (August 14), the 27-year-old dished on if she would ever bring back the fan favorite character.
“You know what honestly, I try to put that wig on all the time,” Miley told Carolina With Greg T In The Morning. “She’s just in storage collecting dust and I’m ready to whip her out… The opportunity will present itself. I definitely would like to resurrect her at some point.”
“She needs a big makeover because she’s kinda stuck in 2008, so we’ll need to go shopping with Miss Montana,” she continued. “And also yea I’d love to do a series again. I think it would be hard for me to get locked into a sound stage for a couple years, but that’s sometime in the future and hopefully I’m directing it.”
Back in March 2019, Mileyturned her real hair to look just like the Hannah Montana wig.
“A year ago, almost to this exact date, the media tried to tell my story for me, and control my narrative, and I’m just not accepting that…so today, it came out that me and my boyfriend have broken up,” she said.
“It was confirmed by a ‘reliable source’ even though no one is reliable in a relationship except the individuals who are participating in it. But right now, two halves can’t make a whole and we’re individually just working on ourselves to become the people that we wanna be, like everybody else at this age,” she continued.
“We are just deciding who we wanna be in our lives, what we wanna do, and so, don’t make it some drama story if next week we’re hanging out, getting pizza. We’ve been friends for 10 years and we’re going to continue to be friends, so just don’t make it something that it is not.”
Miley and the 23-year-old Australian started dating in October 2019. She split from husband Liam Hemsworth back in August 2019 and then had a brief relationship with Kaitlynn Carter soon after that.
