Disney Channel Picks Up New Superhero Comedy Series 'Ultra Violet & Blue Demon'!

Bunk’d’s Scarlett Estevez is branching out and starring in her own show!

The young actress will star as Ultra Violet in the upcoming superhero, action comedy series Ultra Violet & Blue Demon, alongside Blue Demon Jr as a version of himself.

Here’s a synopsis: The series unfolds as a magical luchador mask selects 13-year-old Violet to become Ultra, the superhero successor to her uncle, who is the famous Mexican wrestler Blue Demon Jr. and a superhero-in-disguise. Ultra begins her own secret superhero training with her uncle, all while having to navigate the ups and downs of middle school. As they start to work together, Uncle Blue realizes he can learn a few things from Ultra’s modern Gen-Z take on crime-fighting.

“So thrilled to finally be able to share! This is a dream role, and to get to do it alongside @bluedemonjr and the rest of this fantastic cast is such a gift. So proud of this story that is showing a Latina character as a super hero!! I can’t wait for y’all to meet Ultra Violet and see the magic we’ve been cooking up. 💜💙💜💙,” Scarlett shared with the news on Instagram.

The new show will introduce a Mexican American family and showcase a predominately Latinx main cast and producing team.

Also starring in the series includes Brandon Rossel as Violet’s brother, Miguelito; Marianna Burelli as Violet’s mother, Nina; Juan Alfonso as Violet’s father, Sebastian; Zelia Ankrum as Violet’s best friend, Trudy; and Bryan Blanco as Violet’s goody-two-shoes classmate Enrique Diaz-Diaz.

Blue Demon Jr. is a Mexican cultural icon and we are looking forward to introducing him—and the luchador mythology—to our viewers,” Rafael Garcia, vice president, Development, Disney Branded Television, said in a statement. “With Violet and her family, we also have the opportunity to present an authentic Mexican American family in a series that combines humor and adventure in a unique Latinx shake-up of the superhero genre.”

If you missed it, Scarlett will also be starring in an upcoming Christmas DCOM!

Scarlett Estevez is starring in her first Disney Channel Original Movie!!

The Bunk’d actress will star in Christmas Again, as Rowena “Ro,” a high-spirited 11-year-old girl experiencing a lackluster Christmas.

She’s not handling her parents’ divorce well because she wants her life back the way it was—her parents back together, her dad’s new girlfriend and son out of the picture, and their family traditions to remain the same.

After a disappointing celebration with her family, including sister Gabriela “Gabby,” Abuela Sofia, and Abuelo Hector, she makes a wish to a mall Santa for a “do-over,” and unexpectedly finds herself reliving Christmas day over and over … and over again.

Now, in order to break the strange magical loop, Ro must learn to love her modern blended family as it is, as well as the true meaning of Christmas.

Christmas Again is currently in production, with filming taking place in Chicago.

Also starring in the new movie include Daniel Sunjata and Alexis Carra as Ro’s parents, Beth Lacke as the dad’s new girlfriend, Ashlyn Lopez as Ro’s sister, Priscilla Lopez as Abuela Sofia, Tony Amendola as Abuela Hector and Gary Anthony Williams as Santa.
