Tyler Blackburn is marking National Coming Out Day with some encouraging words for fans.
The Roswell, New Mexico actor took to Instagram on Friday (October 11) to share his thoughts.

“Happy #nationalcomingoutday!” he captioned the selfie below. “It can be a long road to self-acceptance.”
“There’s no right way to do it,” he added. “Take it step by step and know that you are loved!”
Tyler opened up about his sexuality earlier this year.
Tyler Blackburn is also celebrating his 33rd birthday today. Happy birthday, Tyler!

The actors were joined at the event by co-stars Tyler Blackburn, Michael Vlamis, and Lily Cowles, and executive producers Julie Plec, Carina Adly MacKenzie, and Chris Hollier.
During the panel it was announced that original Roswell cast member Jason Behr will join the cast of The CW’s reboot series.
“We’re very excited that Jason will be joining us for a multi-episode arc. It’s only fitting that he’s playing a (currently top secret) character with deep ties to Roswell, New Mexico’s history. Working with him has already been such a special experience for all of us –– particularly when [Roswell co-star] Shiri Appleby was on set to direct him. I was such a huge fan of Roswell as a kid, so having their stamp of approval –– not to mention their expertise and advice –– has really meant the world to me, the cast and the crew,” Carina said in a statement.
It was also announced that Friday Night Lights‘ Gaius Charles will play Bronson, a local farmer with a strong moral compass that leads him to see the good in people –– and aliens –– in a time of great prejudice. Ultimately, his quest to protect those he loves pits him against forces far more powerful than he is.

The 32-year-old Roswell, New Mexico actor opened up about his sexuality and his relationship with former Pretty Little Liars co-star and friend Ashley Benson.
“We never officially dated,†he said. “In navigating our relationship—as co-workers but also as friends—sometimes the lines blurred a little. We had periods when we felt more for each other, but ultimately we’re good buds. For the most part, those rumors made us laugh. But then sometimes we’d be like, ‘Did someone see us hugging the other night?’ She was a huge part of a huge change in my life, so I’ll always hold her dear.â€

The day before, singer Justine Skye hit the stage at the event for an acoustic performance. Also in attendance were Tyler Blackburn, Chloe Lukasiak, Kathryn Gallagher, Ajiona Alexus, The Gifted co-stars Skyler Samuels and Natalie Alyn Lind, Bella Harris, and Madison Grace.
FYI: Bella T is wearing Aeropostale denim jacket, James is wearing full Aeropostale, and Delilah is wearing Aeropostale Camo shorts. Tyler and Justine are also both wearing Aeropostale.
Tyler Blackburn is sending a message to all Malex fans out there who watched the couple break away from each other in the season finale of Roswell, New Mexico.
“I know you guys are pissed about the way #malex ended off in the finale,” Tyler started. “BUT, first let me just say that Alex gave Michael the run around for months. Guerin had to start to move on. You can’t help the heart sometimes.”
He added, “But also, there is so much more story to tell! Fingers double crossed for season 2. I know @cadlymack, @MichaelVlamis and I won’t do you too wrong! 😉.”
That gives us some hope for the two in season two, if the series should be renewed.
Showrunner Carina Adly Mackenzie also spoke to EW about Malex’s future in the show.
“I think they’re on a journey that will bring them back to each other in a lot of different ways over the course of the series,” she shared. “I don’t think that Michael loves Maria [Heather Hemmens] the way that he loves Alex, but I do think that he’s making a choice about the life that he wants and the way that he wants to feel.”
She added, “Things with Alex are extremely fraught; he’s tied to a lot of pain in Michael’s life…I think that Michael is making a safe choice right now. I’m very excited to see Michael and Alex evolve as men and even as friends and maybe fall back in love, in a way that could be a little less painful.”
Tyler Blackburn has come out as bisexual.
The Pretty Little Liars star got candid in a recent interview with The Advocate.

“I’m queer. I’ve identified as bisexual since a teenager,” he told the outlet, adding that he’s always had an “underlying curiosity” about men.
“I got bullied a lot by other boys [growing up], and I just felt like my soul was slowly being taken from me,” he continued. “I ended up eating lunch in my biology classroom in 10th grade, and I had no one to talk to. You form a shell around yourself for protection. And you start to make decisions based off of things outside of what you want and who you are. I stopped doing so many of the things that I loved doing because it felt safer. That right there is the outcome of oppression. When you literally have to mute who you are in order to feel safe. That’s soul-crushing.”
