'Minions' Sequel Gets Postponed Amid Coronavirus Crisis

Minions: The Rise of Gru won’t be hitting theaters this summer as planned.

Universal and Illumination just announced that the film will be pushed back amid coronavirus concerns that closed the studio’s location in France.

“This means we will be unable to finish Minions: The Rise of Gru in time for our planned global releases in late June and early July. While we all grapple with the enormity of this crisis, we must put the safety and protection of our employees above all. We look forward to finding a new release date for the return of Gru and the Minions,” Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri said in a statement.

The new Minions movie was supposed to be released on July 3rd but doesn’t yet have a new launch date.
