'Sydney To The Max' Cast Dish On Their Favorite Birthday Memories, PLUS An Exclusive Clip From This Week's Episode!

Sydney is celebrating her birthday on Sydney to the Max this week!

In the new episode “Thirteen Candles,” Sydney is turning 13 and sets out to plan a sophisticated birthday party. Her plans remind Max of when he tried to organize his own surprise party for his thirteenth birthday back in the 90s.

JJJ has an exclusive clip from the episode where Max arrives at his own surprise birthday party. Check it out now!

To celebrate this new birthday-themed episode, we spoke to the young stars of the show – Ruth Righi, Ava Kolker, Jackson Dollinger and Christian J. Simon – and asked them about their favorite birthday memories, and what their dream party would be like.

“My dream birthday party would be a traveling birthday where I would get to see a new part of the world with my family and friends,” Ruth told JJJ. “I would spend the time exploring and taking in whichever place I ended up and celebrate with as many desserts as you can think of.”

Sydney to the Max airs TOMORROW night (August 21) at 8pm ET/PT on Disney Channel!

Ruth Righi (Sydney)

JJJ: What is your favorite birthday memory?
“It’s hard to choose a favorite birthday because every single one has been so special in different ways, but one that is the most memorable is my twelfth birthday. Even though the day brought many surprises and difficulties (things didn’t turn out as planned), I had the best time with my family and friends making pie and singing songs late into the night. This just reminds me that something so simple as staying home making desserts and laughing with loved ones can be the best birthday ever!”

JJJ: What would be your dream birthday party?
“My dream birthday party would be a traveling birthday where I would get to see a new part of the world with my family and friends. I would spend the time exploring and taking in whichever place I ended up and celebrate with as many desserts as you can think of.”

Ava Kolker (Olive)

JJJ: What is your favorite birthday memory?
“For my 8th birthday, my parents did a scavenger hunt for my present all around this huge resort and it was so much fun! I loved playing detective to find all the clues that ultimately led me to my gift, but the journey was the best part.”

JJJ: What would be your dream birthday party?
“A birthday bash on the beach at sunset with all of my friends and family. And there would be a DJ and we would have giant pool floats on the ocean!”

Jackson Dollinger (Max)

JJJ: What is your favorite birthday memory?
“For my 12th birthday, my dad had to work, so my mom took me to Hawaii for the week! I had just learned to surf and I had dreamed of surfing in Hawaii for years. It was the best present ever and I think it was the most amazing trip of my life. I got to explore the North Shore of Oahu for the first time and surf every day. We had so much fun. It was awesome! Then, a few months later, we ended up going back with my dad too, as a family and did it all over again.”

JJJ: What would be your dream birthday party?
“My dream birthday would be at Kelly Slater’s Wave Pool. It’s a private surf resort and it would be so cool for all my friends to go there for the day and surf perfect waves over and over. I forgot to mention, I would definitely need a snow cone machine at this party too!!! LOL. ”

Christian J. Simon (Leo)

JJJ: What is your favorite birthday memory?
“My favorite birthday memory is my 12th birthday. My birthday is the day after Christmas, so we always travel back to Louisiana around that time. My parents surprised me with a weekend in New Orleans. Just being with family is a win for me, but they arranged for me to meet the chef at the resort we were staying at and I got the opportunity to cook breakfast for my family. That was super special for me because they know how much I love to cook. We also went to a New Orleans Pelicans basketball game, ate beignets, and got the chance to take in the city. It was a great weekend!”

JJJ: What would be your dream birthday party?
“A dream birthday party would be renting out a super cool location surrounded by all of my family & friends. Some must-haves would include a live DJ with a huge dance floor, great food, and a separate room for an arcade and console gaming.”
