Christian Serratos Didn't Speak To Jennifer Lopez About Portraying Selena, Here's Why

Christian Serratos opens up about prepping for her role in Selena: The Series.

The 30-year-old actress plays the late Selena Quintanilla-Perez in the new Netflix series, and recently revealed if she got any tips from Jennifer Lopez.

“I thought about reaching out to her, but I wanted to seem cool so I didn’t,” she told Marie Claire. “I really respect what she did in that film because there was this resurgence of Selena’s work [afterward].”

Christian also told the mag that she had put on the 1997 film Selena, but turned it off after a few minutes out of fear “she’d conflate her own instincts about the superstar with Lopez’s version.”
