OlderJudge Blocks TikTok Ban By President Trump Hours Before Going Into Effect
The TikTok ban has been temporary blocked by a federal judge!
On Sunday evening (September 27), it was announced that the judge had halted President Trump‘s ban on new downloads and updates of the app in the U.S., Variety reports.
The ban was set to go into effect later that night, but the ruling grants TikTok’s motion for a preliminary injunction.
“We’re pleased that the court agreed with our legal arguments and issued an injunction preventing the implementation of the TikTok app ban,” TikTok said in a statement. We will continue defending our rights for the benefit of our community and employees. At the same time, we will also maintain our ongoing dialogue with the government to turn our proposal, which the President gave his preliminary approval to last weekend, into an agreement.â€
The Commerce Department had originally set the ban to go into effect on September 20th, but it was delayed by a week.
