Alyson Stoner is sharing her story about seeking treatment for her eating disorders.

The 25-year-old dancer and musician revealed that in 2011, she entered rehab for anorexia nervosa, exercise bulimia and binge-eating disorder, after years of suffering from career related health issues.

“I had actually wanted to get help for some time, and my schedule didn’t allow for it. So I had already needed hospitalization, but I had to complete projects. The second that I finished the contract, I told my family that I was going. They knew. Everyone around knew,” Alyson told People.

She added that things got so bad, that she was documenting “the grams of polyunsaturated fat and added sugar in every bite I ate” and even casting directors were noticing.

“They would just tell me that I need help and [need] to go home and take care of my health because my eyes were sunken in and I was tired and lifeless. The scary part is I wasn’t even the smallest person on set,” Alison explained.

While in treatment, Alyson was also diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder, OCD tendencies and alexithymia, which is a dysfunction in emotional awareness often linked to PTSD.

Thankfully, Alyson is doing much better today and wants her story to encourage fans to take care of themselves.

“I just want [fans] to soak in it and find themselves in this story and use it as a weapon for their own good. I want them to know that I’m really grateful for their support and I just hold our conversations so precious and so near to my heart,” she concluded.

“I’ve been sitting on this song for about a year and change,” Alyson told People. “There’s never really an ideal time to disrupt how things have been going with a career or relationships, but I felt it was time to share parts of my story that haven’t been made public yet.”

“Several years ago, I discovered I was being taken advantage of since childhood and left in a very compromised position,” she continued. “My health was affected along with my career path, my relationships and identity. So the song itself is kind of an emotional labyrinth. There’s sorrow and betrayal and a feeling of being at ground zero but it’s also mixed with this incredible promise for a new beginning. There’s unparalleled resilience. I see it as sort of the precipice of life and voice and story that’s finally my own.”

“You think it’s a sad song, but it’s an anthem,” she added.

Alyson Stoner is opening up after a “prominent producer” told her she’d “be further along” if she “dressed sexier.”

The Step Up actress shared her story with fans on Instagram on Saturday (December 22).

“Recently, a prominent producer told me I’d be further along if I dressed sexier (define sexy, please),” she captioned the video below. “I’m well aware of the industry 🙄🤢 as well as my personal power. 👑👊🏽 Womxn can stop traffic with a single look, and many businessmen love to feed their families off of exploiting our sex appeal.”

“But let’s be clear: my lane is far wider than my appearance, let alone the entertainment industry,” she continued. “I also don’t prefer placing the power of my sexuality in the hands of companies who ultimately profit more and *still* don’t pay us, the artists and wielders, what we deserve. My potential is limitless and so is everyones’ reading this.”

“Just because you don’t adhere to the system, doesn’t mean you’re a failure,” she added. “People might ask you why you’re not further along by outward standards..they clearly can’t see the distance you’ve traveled on the inside. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 If you’re still reading this, the code word to comment is Boom.”

Alyson Stoner is looking back on 2018!

The 25-year-old singer and actress just shared her annual year end mash-up video and it features commentary on hot topics like Demi Lovato, the gender pay gap, today’s political climate and even some personal moments.

“TMZ called my mother, they found her cell phone. Want the tea that I offer? Savin’ it for my memoir,” Alyson sings in the vid.

The song was written and arranged by Alyson and features her friends Annie Gonzalez, Dexter Darden and Jason Pitts.

The entire project took over 100 hours to create and we’ve got to say, we’re really impressed!

Alyson Stoner is opening up about the importance of body positivity and self-love when it comes to gaining confidence.

The Camp Rock actress shared her thoughts on Instagram on Saturday (November 24).

“You know, I almost didn’t post this because the flat-chested, little boy comments really miss the point of celebrating how perfect and wonderful every body size and shape are,” she captioned a stunning shot of herself posing sideways in a cream-colored dress.

“It’s not news that wardrobe, angles and natural shifts in weight can transform appearance instantly,” she continued. “But still so many people cling to representing and defending one status quo. My womanhood and my worth haven’t changed, yet I’m immediately treated differently according to what I wear and how I compare.”

“I think the magic begins when you start accepting yourself in every phase, not getting too attached to an image, but letting an appreciation for the magnificence of your body guide decisions in self-care,” she added. “That helped me through EDs, depression, and anxiety. So when I see this photo, I see hard-earned confidence and ease. I hope you do, too, but I can’t control you.
