Jordan Calloway's 'Painkiller' Backdoor Pilot Sets April Premiere Date

Jordan Calloway will be starring in the possible upcoming Painkiller spinoff series!

The Black Lightning actor will reprise his role as Khalil Payne/Painkiller for the potential show, and the backdoor pilot air date has been set for April 12th.

Here’s a synopsis: Khalil Payne is a young man ridden with the guilt of his troubled past from his former life in Freeland City, where, as a super-enhanced killing machine known as Painkiller, he was both a member of Tobias Whale’s gang and a weapon of Agent Odell and the shadowy ASA.

After attempting to bury the darker, devastatingly lethal Painkiller part of his persona, Khalil has distanced himself away from everyone he knows and loves in a new city, Akashic Valley, in order to find peace…but peace never comes easy for men with pasts like Khalil Payne and Painkiller.

As his violent, destructive history crashes his idyllic new beginning, Khalil is thrusted back into action with a new mission – bring justice where he once gave out punishment – but to do that, he will first have to deal with and harness his darker side, Painkiller.

The episode was written and directed by Black Lightning creator Salim Akil. The spinoff news was first revealed back in November.

Black Lightning is currently airing it’s fourth and final season, and the backdoor Painkiller pilot will air on Monday, April 12th at 9pm ET/PT on The CW.

The 35-year-old actress, who plays Anissa Pierce / Thunder on the show, took to Instagram to reflect as she wraps up filming on the final, fourth season.

“I’m finishing up my 4th and final season of this beautiful ass show. Although this is our last season and there’s a part of me who is sad to see it go,” Nafessa wrote. “There’s a bigger part of me who’s just so damn grateful to have ever been a part of this journey. I’m grateful for the impact it’s had on our culture…that’s forever! I’m also really looking forward to the next chapter in my life.”

“A forever thank you to Salim and Mara Akil, Peter Roth, Mark Pedowitz, Greg Berlanti, Vicky Thomas and everyone involved with me playing Thunder!” she continued. “We coming with so much heat Season 4. China McClain Found Out About 'Black Lightning' At Same Time As Everyone Else

China McClain is opening up about the cancelation of her show Black Lightning.

The 22-year-old actress shared that she found out at the same time as everyone else, and that she was actually already going to be leaving the show.

“Hey y’all, so there’s something that I want to tell you. For those of you who haven’t heard, and if you haven’t heard, I’m sorry, but this season that we’re filming of Black Lightning now, is going to be the last season of the show. I didn’t that find out until yesterday. I found out with everybody else. I didn’t know,” China revealed.

“But, what I did know, and have known, along with the rest of the cast, since before we even started shooting this season, is that I am leaving the show, and was leaving the show. This was going to be my last season, regardless if it went on or not. For different reasons that, to be honest, I don’t want to go into. I just want y’all to trust me on it,” she continued.

China also shared that she’s only going to be in a limited amount of episodes this upcoming season.

“I didn’t want to tell you until I had to, but now with this news breaking, I thought that it would be the right time. I knew I was going to have to tell you at some point because I only agreed to do a certain number of episodes, so I’m not in the whole season,” she said. “Obviously y’all are going to notice that, given the fact that I’ve been in every episode in the past three seasons.”

She also said that she’s not leaving on bad terms, or because she had a bad experience, but she feels a higher calling/purpose after this year.

“I’m not leaving because I had a terrible time working at The CW. I like The CW. I like [network president] Mark Pedowitz, I like Peter Roth, Greg Berlanti. I love [showrunner] Salim, I always will. He gets it,” she said. “God is moving me in more than one way than just this show. It’s bigger than this show.”
