The 23-year-old actress celebrated the launch of the Cameron Boyce Foundation‘s first project, which aims to end gun violence.
The project features photos of people wielding props “that signify unity and peace” in the same way they would hold a gun.
“the new @thecameronboycefoundation is now up and running, and our first project for Cameron has officially begun. #WieldingPeace was one of Cameron’s many dreams and visions for the world, something that came straight from his heart,” Dove wrote on her Instagram.
She continued, “i will personally be participating and advocating on behalf of this incredible project, and i ask that you do the same. in this unbelievably polarized, hyper violent and highly image based/social climate we are in, wielding peace is the perfect blend of communicating love, peaceful protest, and (hopefully) social media support to raise awareness about gun violence. this was Cam’s vision. let’s realize it for him.”
Cameron Boyce is still spreading lots of love and light through his final project, which will launch through his namesake Cameron Boyce Foundation this week.
The late actor’s parents, Victor and Libby, revealed the project during their Good Morning Americainterview, which is called “Wielding Peace”.
In his own words, Cameron says that Wielding Peace is a “collection of images that feature people from all walks of life (celebrities, victims of gun violence, common supporters) wielding ‘guns.’ The catch is, the ‘guns’ that we’re using as props will be items that signify unity and peace.”
He added, via Refinery29, “Household items such as musical instruments, cameras, food, sporting equipment, beauty products, articles of clothing…anything that might inspire someone creatively as well as make a strong statement with the sentiment that we need to choose a different weapon.”
The project will see Cameron‘s BFFs and roommates Karan Brar and Sophie Reynolds as the ambassadors.
The Cameron Boyce Foundation provides “young people artistic and creative outlets as alternatives to violence and negativity and uses resources and philanthropy for positive change in the world.
Victor and Libby Boyce sat down for their first interview with Good Morning America this morning (August 15), just a month after their son, Cameron Boyce‘s unexpected death.
The two chatted withRobin Roberts about the legacy of their son and explained how Cameron‘s epilepsy didn’t present until his mid-teens.
Cameron had his first seizure at 16, “and then until he had his second one, he wasn’t considered as having epilepsy, and that was when he was 17, going on 18,” Libby shared. “He only ever had five seizures, and the fifth one is what — is the one that he died from.”
Victor added that physicians tried to solve what was causing his seizures, too. However, nothing ever showed.
“They tried to induce him to seize with strobe and different methods. Never seized. And he only ever had seizures while he slept,” he says.
Victor also shared his strongest memory of Cameron just before he died: “I was sitting on the couch, watching whatever, and I hear the door open … And he comes strolling in with his cup of juice or whatever he was drinking and he had just shaved because he had a little goatee and beard, and I was just so happy to see him. I gave him a big hug.”
“And it was just cool that, you know, here’s my now 20-year-old son, just drove up in his car from his house and he’s coming to visit me, and like, I’m thinking this is how it’s going to be. It’s going to be cool,” he said. “That’s my favorite memory right now, because it was the last time I saw him just, like, being an adult and doing his thing.”
The 17-year-old actress titled her latest video, “For Cameron Boyce â¤ï¸”, and the whole video featured her at a kickball game in his memory, as well as a tribute slideshow of some of her favorite videos and photos of Cameron.
The video starts off with Skai going to participate in a kickball fame for her teacher’s friend’s son’s organization, The LucStrong Foundation. They changed the kickball team name to Team Boyce to honor Cameron, who had played on and supported the team in the past.
Skai then urges viewers to donate to The Cameron Boyce Foundation to honor and continue his legacy, followed by her tribute.
Victor and Libby Boyce, the parents of late actor Cameron Boyce, are opening up about their son in a new interview with Good Morning America.
The two sat down with Robin Roberts on the program and opened up about how they had just had dinner with Cameron hours before his unexpected passing.
“The night he passed away, we were out to dinner with him just hours before,” Victor shared. “It was a completely normal, beautiful family night out to dinner.”
He added, “There was no indication that anything was wrong. I mean there was no way to know in hours my son would be dead. Like, it was just staggeringly crazy and horrible. And we were texting that night.”
He and Libby also opened up about how Cameron was truly finding his voice in his charity work.
“He loved life. This is, for me, the hardest thing. He was in a place where he was truly happy. I mean, Cameron was always happy. Never a negative thing came out of his mouth.”
Libby continued, “He was really getting into the charity stuff, really getting into what he wanted to do with his voice, which is what we always told him to do,” she said. “Use your voice. Use it to make positive in the world, and that’s what he was starting to do.”

It’s hard to believe that Cameron Boyce has been gone a full month.
His passing shaped and changed a lot of us, but none more than his Descendants family. Now, the cast is staying even more in touch than they did before.
Dove Cameron explained to E’s Daily Pop, “[Booboo Stewart's] always like, ‘I am going to go brush my horses—do you want to come over for game night?’ That’s what we’ve been working on all together as a family is really staying in touch with each other and Booboo said, he was like, ‘I want to go out of my way to see you because I don’t want to miss you.’”
Dove continues, “I think that that’s kind of how we’re all feeling is we want to—we want to make an effort. It really reminds you how important everybody is, how important your one life is.”
She also opened up about how the loss of Cameron emphasizes the importance of intentionally spending time with loved ones.
“I think that that’s become very important to all of us if it wasn’t obviously before,” Dove says. “It’s been really rough, but we’re all finding solace in each other and that’s become really beautiful for us.”
