Olivia Holt, Chiara Aurelia & More Glam Up For 'Cruel Summer' Premiere Screening

Olivia Holt wears a strapless LBD to the premiere screening of her new Freeform series Cruel Summer held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Thursday night (April 15) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The 23-year-old actress and singer was joined by a number of her co-stars at the event, where they had socially distant viewing from different balconies.

Also in attendance were Chiara Aurelia, Harley Quinn Smith, Allius Barnes, Blake Lee, Michael Landes, Brooklyn Sudano, Sarah Drew and Andrea Anders.

Notably missing was Froy Gutierrez, who plays Jamie in the series. He’s currently back in London, where he was spotted out earlier this week with Richard Madden.

Cruel Summer is exactly ONE WEEK away from premiering on Freeform!

The thrilling new series stars Olivia Holt, Chiara Aurelia, Michael Landes, Froy Gutierrez, Harley Quinn Smith, Allius Barnes, Blake Lee and Brooklyn Sudano, and new clips and images were just released.

Here’s a synopsis: The unconventional drama takes place over three summers in the 90s when a beautiful and popular teen goes missing, and a seemingly unrelated girl transforms from a sweet and awkward outlier to the most popular girl in town, eventually becoming the most despised person in America. Each episode is told from alternating POVs.

The new show is executive produced by Jessica Biel and marks Olivia‘s return to the network following Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger.

Freeform's New Series 'Cruel Summer' Adds Barrett Carnahan & More To Cast

New cast members for the upcoming new show Cruel Summer have been announced!

Deadline reveals that Barrett Carnahan, Andrea Anders, Nicole Bilderback and Benjamin J Cain have recurring roles on the Freeform series.

Cruel Summer follows two young women: Kate Wallis (Olivia Holt), the popular girl with a charmed life who one day goes missing, and Jeanette Turner (Chiara Aurelia), the nerdy wannabe who is accused of being connected to Kate’s disappearance. All signs point to Jeanette’s guilt, but is Kate really who she seems to be? Set over three summers and told through shifting points of view, the series challenges perception and follows how one girl can go from being a sweet outlier to the most despised person in America.

Barrett, who you may recognize from some of his roles on Best Friends Whenever, Cobra Kai, grown-ish and Alexa & Katie, will play Derek, Andrea will portray Joy Wallis, Nicole is Denise and Benjamin joins as Rod Wallis.

Olivia Holt's 'Cruel Summer' Gets Premiere Date & First Look Teaser!

The upcoming Freeform series Cruel Summer has just been given a premiere date!

The new psychological mystery, from executive producer Jessica Biel, will have a two-hour premiere event on Tuesday, April 20th at 9pm ET/PT.

Cruel Summer follows two young women: Kate Wallis (Olivia Holt), the popular girl with a charmed life who one day goes missing, and Jeanette Turner (Chiara Aurelia), the nerdy wannabe who is accused of being connected to Kate’s disappearance. ‘Cruel Summer’ Teaser

'Motherland: Fort Salem' Renewed For Season 2 at Freeform, Plus More Exciting Announcements!

Freeform has just made a ton of very exciting announcements!!

The network revealed that new show Motherland: Fort Salem has been renewed for a second season, as well as new comedy Everything’s Gonna Be Okay.

In addition to the Motherland renewal, Lyne Renee, who plays General Alder, has been upped to series regular!

“I could not be more grateful for the chance to keep exploring the world of ‘Motherland: Fort Salem,’” Writer/Creator Eliot Laurence said in a statment. “Freeform has been such a fabulous home for us through the development process, production, post and marketing. I’m also blown away by the love we’ve gotten from our fans, whose excitement and passion played a massive part in this renewal. Thank you, witches!”

“This is great news, not just because it means I have a group of writers that have to hang out on my screen with me all day and I don’t have to be alone anymore getting weird,” Creator, Executive Producer and star Josh Thomas said of EGBO, “but because I love this show and I love these characters and I love our cast and crew and making another season is just going to be so nice.”

Freeform also revealed that the second half of season three of grown-ish and new series Cruel Summer will premiere in 2021.

The Bold Type will premiere in June and new series Love In The Time Of Corona will premiere in August 2020.

This year’s holiday programming “31 Nights of Halloween,” “Kickoff to Christmas” and “25 Days of Christmas,” will be back and bigger than ever. “31 Nights of Halloween” will once again feature the classics Hocus Pocus and Ghostbusters, while “25 Days of Christmas” will bring you The Santa Clause trilogy and be the cable home of Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

This year’s Valentine’s Day themed event “Love However the FF You Want” will be back in 2021, and Freeform will kick off the new “Summer Singalong,” with movies, music and the network premiere of the live action Aladdin!

Freeform's 'Last Summer' Gets Title Change, Olivia Holt Joins Cast

Olivia Holt is heading back to Freeform!!

The 22-year-old Cloak & Dagger actress and singer has been cast in a lead role in the upcoming thriller series Cruel Summer, Deadline reports.

The show, from executive producer Jessica Biel, was previously titled Last Summer and was picked up to series earlier this year.

Olivia is taking on the role of Kate, who is the embodiment of teenage perfection whose life is one to be envied until she mysteriously disappears, which was originally played by Mika Abdalla in the pilot.

Cruel Summer takes place over three summers — 1993-95 — in a small Texas town when a beautiful popular teen, Kate (Holt), is abducted and, seemingly unrelated, a girl, Jeanette (Chiara Aurelia), goes from being a sweet, awkward outlier to the most popular girl in town and, by ’95, the most despised person in America.

Each episode is told from the POV of one of the two main girls, which will have the viewers’ loyalties constantly shifting as more information is revealed.

Freeform Renews 'Good Trouble' & 'grown-ish', Picks Up New Series 'Last Summer'

Freeform just announced that two of it’s shows will be getting another season!

Maia Mitchell and Cierra Ramirez‘s The Fosters spinoff Good Trouble will return for a third season.

Yara Shahidi‘s black-ish spinoff grown-ish will also return for the show’s fourth season, which will follow her senior year of college. Season three JUST premiered on the network.

In addition to the renewals, Freeform has ordered new show Last Summer to series.
