Disneyland Suspends Annual Pass Program For the Unforeseeable Future

Disneyland is bringing a more permanent halt to it’s annual passes!

The Anaheim, Calif., theme park’s president Ken Potrock shared the news in a statement on Thursday afternoon (January 14).

“We want to thank our Annual Passholders for their understanding during this closure period,” he said. “Due to the continued uncertainty of the pandemic and limitations around the reopening of our California theme parks, we will be issuing appropriate refunds for eligible Disneyland Resort Annual Passports and sunsetting the current program.”

“We are currently developing new membership offerings that will utilize consumer insights to deliver choice, flexibility and value for our biggest fans,” Ken added.

Last year, after continued closures at the Anaheim resort, park goers were able to get refunds or delay their annual pass membership until they opened.

Disneyland and other theme parks across California have long been battling the state government on trying to open their parks.

Other Disney parks across the world have opened (one closed again). Walt Disney World in Florida reopened back in July and remains open to this day.

One of Disneyland’s parking lots is also being turned into a COVID vaccine site. See photos over on Just Jared!

Disneyland is looking forward to this year!

The Anaheim, Calif., resort is hoping to finally, fully open it’s two parks in 2021, and has tentatively set an opening date for it’s newest land.

The Marvel-themed Avengers Campus was originally set to open in Disney California Adventure Park in July 2020, but the pandemic caused that to be delayed indefinitely.

Now, Disney is hoping that the new land will be opening to guests at some point in the year, pending the park’s opening.

“While Disneyland Resort is currently closed, we are looking forward to exploring Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure next year, where we can channel our inner Super Hero alongside The Avengers, The Guardians of the Galaxy, and more!” they shared with D23 members recently.

Avengers Campus took the place of A Bug’s Land in the theme park, with two attraction rides, Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout and the new WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure. Check out all the preview photos from the new land here!

Disneyland Paris To Close For Second Time Amid Spike In Coronavirus Cases In France

Disneyland Paris is being forced to close their gates once again!

The French Disney park is shutting down starting this Friday (October 30), along with many other non-essential businesses shutting down due to the recent surge in positive Coronavirus cases in France.

French President, Emmanuel Macron, is putting the country in a lockdown with only essential businesses able to stay open, which includes schools, nurseries, pharmacies, supermarkets, and other businesses deemed essential, Variety reports.

According to WDWNT, there is no re-opening date set yet, but the lockdown in France is set to go on until December 1st. The chance of removing the lockdown will be re-evaluated every two weeks.

Disneyland Paris will be the second Disney park to be closed at this time, as the original Disneyland still has not opened, and could possibly not even reopen until 2021. Disney Parks executives have slammed the California government’s reopening guidelines.

UPDATE: Disney Parks announces Disneyland Paris will shut down twice! First, in compliance with French guidelines, starting at end of day on Thursday (October 29), and again for the month of January. See their message below.
