“I love fantasy-action and I wanted to create something that would appeal to newer fans of the genre while tackling an elevated story,†Dylan said in a statement. “The characters I wrote are from actual tales and bardic songs, and the story is about the adult, dark, grotesque, and somber world of Sun Eater and its desperate, faulty protagonist. While I have been actively writing Sun Eater for years, the culmination of the content rings especially true for me now, at this stage of my life.â€
“Sun Eater” is a nine-issue saga that takes place in ninth century Norway, where a drug-addled warrior sacrifices his leg to the Gods. In return he is fused with a parasitic beast, giving him the power to rescue his son from his sworn enemies—history’s first Norwegian king and his five personal guards.
The result is a grim and bloody adventure—a dark metaphor for drug addiction, selfishness, and the children it affects.
The comic series was co-written with Joe Harris, with illustrations by Diego Yapur, and cover art by Brian Steelfreeze.
The 27-year-old actor is writing a new, dark comic about the gods and goddesses of Norse mythology, which will be released through Heavy Metal magazine.
““This is a very deeply personal, familial story to me,†he told SYFY WIRE.
“[The comic] largely takes inspiration from the sagas that my own Scandinavian-American grandparents were reading both my brother and I while we were younger,†Dylan continued.
He also added how this story is set in Norway in the 800s, and it differs from Thor because “the relation to the gods of proto-Germanic myth and mythology are much more true to history.
“This is much more along the lines of Neil Gaiman‘s American Gods,†Dylan said. “I’m writing from a Pagan perspective, [exploring] what these gods and goddesses represent, both in metaphorical ways and also how they might have literally interacted with people.â€
In a recent interview, the 27-year-old actor revealed how they are doing and how they are handling the quarantine.
“It’s actually pretty nice considering that we fly around all the time throughout the world and haven’t had this much time to spend with each other in a long time,†he told ET.
Dylan also dished just what they are doing with their time off together.
“The new Animal Crossing came out, so we’re playing a lot of Crossing and catching up on all the shows we missed this year,†he told Cosmopolitan. “We’re also playing games, just talking, trying to get organized, all the things we didn’t really have time for.â€
“We started this new anime that we really like called Haikyu!!, which is a funny volleyball anime, funny enough,†Dylan added. “Besides that, it’s been a lot more video game playing than watching stuff.â€
Dylan Sprouse is looking back on 15 years of The Suite Life of Zack & Cody!
The 27-year-old actor commemorated the anniversary of the show’s premiere with a hilarious throwback photo, checking out his armpit checked out by his brother Cole.
“Yesterday marked the 15 year anniversary of when Suite Life first premiered on TV. It was so long ago that the cold open of the pilot episode was Cole searching for non existent armpit hair on me. We were both around 11 years old when we started filming. A lot had happened in our lives that was difficult then and this show, in a way, saved us,” Dylan wrote.
He continued, “1000 years of gratitude to all involved. I love you all and I’m glad this show can still give families the nostalgia they once had when watching it. I’ll keep those memories forever.”
Dylan‘s co-star Brenda Song added her own throwback photo, writing, “My actual reaction when I just read that it’s the 15th anniversary of the premiere #thesuitelifeofzackandcody !! That’s insane! I’ve never felt so old. Hahaha. Such an incredible life changing time. Miss you gang!”
The show followed the antics of twins Zack and Cody, who move into a hotel after their mom books a headlining singing gig at the hotel.
Suite Life also spawned the spinoff The Suite Life On Deck, which took the twins, London Tipton, and Mr Moseby to the high seas.
The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, The Suite Life On Deck, and The Suite Life Movie are available to stream on Disney+ NOW!
Now, Cole of course stars on Riverdale while Dylan will soon be seen in After We Collided. Ashley has recently co-starred on Carol’s Second Act on CBS, as well as Merry Happy Whatever on Netflix. Brenda can be seen in Dollface on Hulu.
The couple have put a few outfits that they have worn to events up for auction to raise money for musical instruments.
“Remember these looks? With a bid, they can be yours to keep and you will probably wear them better than I did,” Dylan wrote on Instagram.
“Babs and I donated them to help make music education available for more children. Now we need ur help. You can bid on the clothes on www.csikyfund.com or if you don’t want to participate in the auction you can donate to the cause on the website and have the chance to win one of the eight gifts the foundation is offering. All the money will be spent on new musical instruments for music schools. If you want to help, please do!” he added.

If you remember, Selena and Dylan‘s kiss happened in a 2006 episode of The Suite Life.
“It was my first kiss — [and] on-camera!” Selena added. It was one of the worst days of my life!”
Selena Gomez previously told Twist magazine, “I actually leaned in to kiss him, and I had my eyes closed a little too early and I ended up missing, like, half of his lips. So it ended up being the most awkward kiss in the world … I was 12, so it was okay and it was good. Thank goodness he is such an awesome guy!”
