While we were so satisfied with the end of The Vampire Diaries, a major moment had to be cut that we would have loved to see!
Executive producer Kevin Williamson just revealed that Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) proposal to Elena (Nina Dobrev) was left on the cutting room floor due to time constraints in the episode.
“We actually had a moment, which we didn’t have time for — everything got cut,” Kevin told TVGuide.com. “I think the first cut came in 18 minutes over. And there was a moment in the show where he proposed and she responded after medical school. And the whole point of that moment was just to show that she became a doctor. And so we thought, ‘Oh, we’ll just put her in scrubs and we can cut that piece.””
The ratings have been revealed for the series finale episode of The Vampire Diaries and the show reached its best numbers in over a year!
1.19 million people tuned in to see how the show wrapped up and it received a 0.5 demo rating, which means that 0.5% of all television equipped households in the 18-49 age range were watching the show.
The ratings marked a 58-week high in the total audience and a 54-week high in the demo, according to TV Line.
We’re still trying to process everything that happened in the episode!
If you’re a hard-core, true blue The Vampire Diaries fan, you may have had some, well, concerns about Elena (Nina Dobrev) waking up for the series finale.
We know that Bonnie (Kat Graham)’s heart stops in The Vampire Diaries, but now we know that that doesn’t necessarily mean sacrificing her life for Elena’s.
Elena’s life is tied to Bonnie’s, so viewers thought in order for Elena to come back to life, Bonnie would have to die… and the writers wouldn’t do that. Right?
Well, yes and no.
Being The Vampire Diaries, it’s all about the loopholes. The new preview reveals that Bonnie dies for just a moment, long enough for Elena to, you know, casually climb out of her casket.
And then we all get the heartfelt reunion between Elena and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) below, which you’re lying if you’re not looking forward to. (It’s okay. We’re crying, too.)
The series finale airs tomorrow, March 10, on The CW.
What do the late and great Micheal Jackson and Ian Somerhalder have a common? Owning a hyperbaric chamber – that’s what!
While making appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday (March 6) in Los Angeles, the 38-year-old Vampire Diaries star talked about his hyperbaric chamber and revealed how it helped him land wife Nikki Reed.
“You get into this thing and there’s 98% oxygen pumping into it. Basically its ten liters per minute of oxygen that you would ever get in the atmosphere so it’s pressure cooking oxygen into your largest organ. They’re amazing,” Ian told Jimmy. “I put Nikki in it on our second date and all I’m saying is 10 months to the day we were married. It speeds everything up.”
Ian also talked about the series finale of The Vampire Diaries and Lost.

“Damon?” she says as she stands outside the coffin.
He responds, “Elena.”
Then they embrace while Stefan (Paul Wesley) tells her “welcome back.”
It’s rumored that she’s back just in time for Stefan and Caroline’s (Candice King) wedding, but at the same time, we know Katherine will be back and up to no good.
Are we sure this is Elena and not Katherine? Not for sure, but we’re hoping it’s the Delena moment we want.
The Vampire Diaries series finale airs Friday, March 10 on The CW.
