Josephine Langford Credits Author Anna Todd For The Huge 'After' Following

Josephine Langford Credits Author Anna Todd For The Huge 'After' Following

Josephine Langford is opening up about the giant fan base for her hit movie series, After!

The 23-year-old actress, who stars in the franchise as Tessa Young, recently dished on the franchise’s following, and credits it to the author of the book series, Anna Todd.

“She’s the one who wrote these books and really drove this huge amount of attention to them,” Josephine told TooFab. “There’s probably a lot of different things, but the story pulls you in because it’s just a rollercoaster and you don’t know what’s going to happen next. And then when you’re reading a book or watching a film, you go, ‘Oh, okay, everything’s fine now.’ And [then] there’s something else happens. So I think I would probably attribute it to just the story, and the ebbs and flows of it.”

“I also think sometimes there’s just something about things which people love and you don’t know what that X-factor is,” she added.

Josephine also dished on wrapping the final movie, After Ever Happy, which was filmed back to back with the upcoming third film, After We Fell.

It’s always funny finishing a movie because there’s never really this big last day with all the cast where it ends,” she shared. “It’s always like people are wrapping … [there's a] three, four, five-week-long process when cast members are like dropping off.”

“It was really bittersweet because obviously, it was sad finishing it,” Josephine said. “It doesn’t really feel like it’s over of it yet. I haven’t accepted it. I think that’s because the film just hasn’t come out, but yeah bittersweet.”

The first teaser trailer for After We Fell has been released, and it will be out later this year!

Josephine Langford & Josie Totah Talk Girl Power In New Movie 'Moxie'

Josephine Langford & Josie Totah Talk Girl Power In New Movie 'Moxie'

The new movie Moxie is coming out TOMORROW (March 3) on Netflix!

Two of the film’s stars, Josephine Langford and Josie Totah, recently opened up about the feminism and girl power theme of the movie.

“It’s definitely an important film because a lot of the issues in it are really relevant. It talks about bias in school dress codes we’re seeing come up more … and more attention is being drawn to this,” Josephine told TooFab. “And [the film is] just about speaking up. It touches on intersectionality and feminism and generational differences in activism and how different generations choose to advocate differently, you know, the younger generation [advocates] more with social media. And so I think it just touches on a lot of really relevant things for the time that we’re living in.”

“There are lot of different things people can take from the film about not just feminism, but family and friendships and speaking up,” she added about what she hopes people take away from the movie. “The overall message that I would hope people get from it is to find your voice and find your moxie — that might just be speaking up in other areas of life, like at school, in your family or in the workplace with friends, but just learning how you can speak up.”

Josie dished about the film’s depiction of marginalized and disenfranchised groups.

“I’m so happy that this film can be made and depict multiple women from multiple different backgrounds,” she also told TooFab. “And these are experiences that happened in real life and they continue to happen. And in order for that to change, there needs to be concrete growth. And I do think this movie is a step in the right direction.”

Amy Poehler is a powerhouse. She is an incredible tour de force human being. But also she’s an incredible ally,” she added about the film’s director. “And I think her intention to really making this film so inclusive, so representative of the different identities that exist in real life and telling their stories authentically, not just for the art of tokenism or for show was so incredible and so wonderfully refreshing.”

If you haven’t already, be sure to watch the Moxie trailer here, and tune in to Netflix TOMORROW (March 3)!

Josephine Langford, Hadley Robinson & More Star In 'Moxie' Trailer - Watch Now!

The official trailer for the upcoming movie Moxie just debuted on Tuesday morning (February 2)!

The new film has quite the cast of young stars, including Josephine Langford, Hadley Robinson, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Josie Totah, Sydney Park and more.

Here’s a synopsis: Vivian (Robinson), a seemingly shy 16-year-old, has always preferred to keep her head down and fly under the radar. But when the arrival of a new student (Alycia Pascual-Peña) forces her to examine the unchecked behavior of her fellow students running rampant at her high school, Vivian realizes she’s fed up.

Inspired by her mother’s (Amy Poehler) rebellious past, Vivian anonymously publishes an underground zine called Moxie to expose bias and wrongdoing in her high school, and unexpectedly sparks a movement. Now at the center of a revolution, Vivian begins to forge new friendships with other young women and allies, reaching across the divide of cliques and clubs as they learn to navigate the highs and lows of high school together.

The movie, directed by Amy Poehler, also stars Lauren Tsai, Nico Hiraga, Clark Gregg, Anjelika Washington, Charlie Hall, and Sabrina Haskett, with Ike Barinholtz and Marcia Gay Harden.

Look out for Moxie on March 3rd on Netflix!
