The Flash's Keiynan Lonsdale Joins the Cast of 'Step Up' Series

Keiynan Lonsdale has joined the cast of Step Up: High Water in a series regular role!

The 29-year-old is taking over the role of Tal, who was originally played by Petrice Jones in the first two seasons.

Here’s a character description, via Deadline: Once an outcast from Ohio, taken from his mother and dropped in the tough streets of Atlanta. Tal faced persecution for his eccentricities, his sexuality, and his refusal to submit to the expectations of others. Dancing his way into High Water, literally, beaten and bloodied, Tal became the pride of Sage Odom’s elite dance crew. Now, the lead dancer for Sage’s massive tour, Tal must continue to be the most crucial piece in a support system that carries his friends, his family, and a billion-dollar tour. He is lean, graceful, and courageous, just like his nickname: the greyhound.

“Excited to join the @stepupseries crew on @starz this season. I’m blown away every day on set & in dance rehearsals by the talent, drive, & passion of everyone around me here, they kickin my ass & i love it. I’m portraying ‘Tal’, who was brilliantly played in the first two seasons by @petricej 🙌🏾, I only hope to bring the same amount of grace to the character in my own way. Thank you for welcoming me to the family! Let’s dance x 🔑,” Keiynan shared on Instagram.

Petrice also commented, and thanked Keiynan for the kind words.

“My brother. Thank you for your kind words. I’m excited to see you you give Tal new life and new layers. I’ve no doubt you’ll do a beautiful job. All the very best with shoot, mate. ✊🏾❤️,” he wrote.

If you missed it, a few weeks ago it was announced that Christina Milian would be stepping in and taking over Naya Rivera‘s role. Naya‘s family has reportedly lent their support for the recasting.

Do Any 'Love, Simon' Characters Appear In 'Love, Victor' Series? Find Out All We Know!

Simple answer, yes!

The Love, Victor trailer was just revealed earlier this week, and we got a quick glimpse at Keiynan Lonsdale, who plays Bram in the original movie Love, Simon.

Other than Keiynan, no other original characters from the movie could be seen, but that doesn’t mean we won’t get to see them in the series.

VIDEO: Click here to watch the Love, Victor trailer!

It has also been previously reported that Simon himself, Nick Robinson, is serving as an Executive Producer on the show, and that he’s narrating as well. Here’s hoping for maybe a cameo??

Love, Victor is of course a spinoff of Love, Simon, which is set at the same high school. It follows Victor (Michael Cimino), a new student at Creekwood High School on his own journey of self-discovery, facing challenges at home, adjusting to a new city and exploring his sexual orientation.

When it all seems too much, he reaches out to Simon to help him navigate the ups and downs of high school.

Tune in to the premiere of Love, Victor on Friday, June 19th on Hulu!
