Riverdale is officially back to filming!
The show’s upcoming fifth season kicked off filming on Monday (September 14) after the stars quarantined for two weeks.
First scene to be filmed, as documented by showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, is a shirtless KJ Apa in a steam room.
“Annnnnd #Riverdale is back. First scene up of Season 5: Archie in a steam room. Even in a Covid world, some things never change…🔥👀ðŸ†ðŸ’‹â¤ï¸,” Roberto wrote on Instagram.
The day before, Roberto shared a photo with Camila Mendes, Lili Reinhart, Madelaine Petsch, Cole Sprouse and Drew Ray Tanner ahead of the big return.
“After fourteen days of quarantining 🇨🇦 and months of prep, #Riverdale Season 5 starts shooting tomorrow. Spent the night in the bubble, reminiscing with these lovely people and celebrating @lilireinhart 24th birthday 🎂 How time flies. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the gang this week. Lili Reinhart goes for a walk with her cute dog Milo on Sunday (September 6) in Vancouver, Canada.
The 23-year-old actress was seen stepping out after wrapping up her 14-day quarantine, which she was required to do after arriving there from the United States.
Also stepping out in Vancouver that day were Lili‘s Riverdale co-stars Camila Mendes, Madelaine Petsch, and KJ Apa. You can see all of those pics in the gallery!
Last week, Lili made headlines when she said that she feels “like a prisoner” during the quarantine period in Vancouver. The cast had to quarantine after arriving in town from the U.S.
Lili then said her words were taken out of context.
“Love it when my words are taken out of context YET AGAIN. I’m not complaining about going back to work, I’m incredibly grateful to have a job. I’m sad that I can’t see my family for months on end due to travel restrictions. FFS, leave me alone,” she tweeted. “No wonder people think I’m this pissed off girl all the time. I annoy myself having to speak up about this 🙄.”
KJ Apa has shared some new photos of his girlfriend Clara Berry!
While the couple keep their relationship pretty private, they do occasionally share photos with each other, or of each other.
“There’s nowhere else,” KJ captioned three new pics, where Clara is fully nude, and you can only see her bum.
Clara also posted the photos on her account with the caption, “Seul au monde By. @kjapa ðŸ¡,” which translates to “Alone in the world.”
KJ last shared a pic with Clara back in March in celebration of her birthday. The post has since been deleted from his account.
In case you missed it, KJ is getting ready to head back to work on Riverdale in a couple of weeks, as pre-production has officially started on the CW series.
KJ Apa is done filming his new movie Songbird!
The 23-year-old actor took to Instagram on Sunday (August 2) to shared with fans that he has finished his first project since the pandemic.
“wrap on SONGBIRD. You guys are gonna flip out on this movie, it’s so special. i f–king loved playing this character and feel very lucky to have been a part of it during these crazy times. cheers. #songbird 2020. And Thankyou God,” he captioned a photo of himself sitting in front of his trailer.
A few days before, KJ shared another photo, captioning it, “You guys are gonna trip. #SONGBIRD”
The Riverdale star really went all out while filming this movie. Last week, he shared that he had to get stitches after splitting his head open while doing stunts.
KJ‘s co-star and on screen girlfriend Sofia Carson also recently shared a super cool photo of the pair sitting atop of a motorcycle. Check it out!

The 27-year-old actress and singer shared the first pic of her with co-star and on-screen boyfriend KJ Apa on set.
Sofia has shared photos and videos from set on her Instagram story, including their trailers, but nothing quite like this.
“SONGBIRD 2020. @kjapa @michaelbay @adamgoodman,” she captioned the photo, tagging KJ and producers Michael Bay and Adam Goodman.
Sofia and KJ are playing a couple in the upcoming film. He will play an essential worker who has a rare immunity, a delivery man who delivers goods and hope throughout the city, while she will play his girlfriend, locked within her home, and the couple have no ability to physically be together. In case you missed it, earlier this week, KJ suffered a head injury which caused him to need stitches!
KJ Apa is showing off his on set injury!
The 23-year-old is currently filming the new quarantine-themed movie Songbird, and appears to be doing some stunts.
In new photos and video, KJ showed his bloody head after splitting it open on Wednesday (July 29). The next day, he showed the staples in his head.
“I split my head open yesterday… I don’t know if you guys can see that, but I have two stitches in there, metal stitches,” he said in video clips on his Instagram story on Thursday (July 30), while sitting inside his trailer.
