Lele Pons is opening up about the start of her career.
The 23-year-old singer and social media star stepped out for several events during technology convention CES on Wednesday (January 8) at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.
While taking the stage for the Spotify On Variety Panel, Lele explained that when she began her career on Vine, she was just doing something for fun.
“Social media really wasn’t a thing. Influencers weren’t a thing seven years ago and we had no idea. We didn’t do it for the popularity or the money or anything like that. Even when the money came along, I was like, ‘Oh this is actually a hobby for me.’ I didn’t know it was work,” Lele explained.
She continued, “So it was something people did for fun. When I got into it’s because I really wanted to try something new but just for me. Super fun. I don’t understand how it became my work.”
“It’s badass because of the message, it’s badass because you can see the attitude there, you can see the rage, the anger that I have. Just you see!” Lele shared. “I can’t really talk about it but you’ll see the anger…It was emotional for me because I know my background, but I loved it. Because it’s not only about me, it’s about women. It’s a lot about women empowerment.”

She added that the “badass” song “has a very brave message.”
“It’s badass because of the message, it’s badass because you can see the attitude there, you can see the rage, the anger that I have. Just you see!” Lele said. “I can’t really talk about it but you’ll see the anger…It was emotional for me because I know my background, but I loved it. Lele continues, “I just see him from afar, but I don’t know. It’s just, the thing is, I fall in love very quickly, but I also fall out of love very quickly too.”
So what kind of partner is Lele on the lookout for? “He has to make me laugh, he has to be someone ambitious, someone that I admire, someone that has a lot of values, is a family person, supportive.”
