The 'Liv & Maddie' Showrunners Can't Wait For What's Next With Their Stars

There’s something about watching the stars of Liv and Maddie really grow up on screen…and it’s even more powerful for showrunners John D. Beck and Ron Hart.

The two are looking forward to whatever life is bringing to Dove Cameron, Joey Bragg, Tenzing Norgay Trainor, and everyone from the show.

“The thing we’ve been loving so much, since the show wrapped filming last year, is watching our alumni go on to do pretty amazing things,” they shared with JJJ.

Dove, doing Hairspray Live and Descendants 2…we always knew that she was going to be a megastar. Ryan, did Rocky Horror Picture Show. Jordan killing on Broadway. Joey on Criminal Minds and All American Summer; Chloe is all over the place now. It’s just been really fun to watch and it’s cool to watch them take off.”

John and Ron added, “I don’t know if that counts as a project [for us], but watching them has been everything.”

The Liv and Maddie series finale airs FRIDAY, March 24th @ 5:30PM ET/PT on Disney Channel.

Liv & Maddie's Jillow Are 100% Meant To Be

From the first moment Willow (Jessica Marie Garcia) got the crushies over Joey (Joey Bragg) on Liv and Maddie, we were hooked, and when they finally had their first date, we were throwing a party.

Joey spoke to JJJ about the couple’s flirty relationship throughout the series and is making us feel all the feels.

“The Willow/Joey storyline was always my favorite,” he says, “not just because I got to spend the week with Jessica Marie Garcia but because everyone has been in that awkward position before.”

Joey adds about the importance of their relationship and the storyline: “Whether you are the Joey or the Willow you know how hard it can be, so getting to see Joey and Willow get together in the end was a great message.”

“What was the message you ask? Never give up, never go down.”

With the show ending in just a few days, we don’t know if they’ll end up together during it, but Joey has hope for the couple.

“Willow and Joey are meant to be. They’ll find each other eventually,” he says. “They are still so young. Look out for a movie coming out in ten years putting the bow on top of Jillow.”

The Liv & Maddie series finale airs Friday, March 24.

Even 'Liv & Maddie' Showrunners Wanted More Liv & Holden Scenes!

Liv (Dove Cameron) and Holden (Jordan Fisher) will go down in the Disney Channel history books as the couple that we all loved more than any other ship ever…and even the showrunners agree.

JJJ talked with John D. Beck and Ron Hart about the storyline they definitely wanted to have more episodes for.

“It would’ve been great to have more time with Holden and Liv,” John said. “I think we would’ve loved to play out the Josh/Maddie/Diggie triangle a little bit longer, too.”

He adds, “We had a whole storyline we’d love to play out with Johnny Nimbus (Kurt Long) out in California. There is just so much time you’d have on screen…we would’ve done the show for the next 100 years if they’d let us. We love these characters and the actors.”

Dove Cameron Learned The Best Lesson on 'Liv & Maddie' - How To Be A Better Person

Dove Cameron learned a lot of things with Liv and Maddie, like playing two girls (with the help of two others).

The actress learned about what went on behind the camera of the show, just how much went into playing two different girls on screen, but more over, she learned a huge life lesson.

“I also learned to be a good friend and be a good daughter, and sister. Friend! I learned how to be a better person,” Dove shares in this new IG video.

EXCLUSIVE: 'Liv & Maddie's Joey Bragg Reveals Where Joey Rooney's Cat Obsession Came From

For as long as we can remember, Liv and Maddie‘s Joey Rooney has only ever worn cats on his clothes.

They were on his shirts, his socks, even his boxers. Anyone remember the Halloween episode and we wore a giant cat head and Joey t-shirt?!

But, where did the cat obsession actually come from? Joey Bragg revealed all!

“Joey and Joey are one in the same. Joey Rooney was the more fun, optimistic, and bright version of me,” he explains to JJJ of his two Joey personas.

“My love of all things cat and kitty attire took over pretty quickly. I came to work in the occasional cat shirt and all of a sudden that was all Joey Rooney wore,” Joey adds.

He jokes later, “I grew up with no less than three cats at one time. I was raised by them. Wasn’t until I was a junior in high school that I realized I wasn’t a feline myself.”

So, there you go! That’s where his cat obsession came from.

The ‘Liv & Maddie’ Showrunners Picked Out Their Favorite Episodes (& It’s All of Them!)

John D. Beck and Ron Hart can not make up their minds one bit!

The Liv and Maddie showrunners have so many favorite episodes that they can’t pinpoint just one that they love the most.

“A lot of episodes come to mind. ‘Rate-A-Rooney‘ comes to my mind first, everyone loved that. The story was so powerful with the rating female body image. There was Joey and Parker splitting up their room there too,” John shared off the top of his head.

He continues, “The pilot, the season three finale, Patty Duke, ‘Space-Werewolf-A-Rooney’… and the series finale too. ‘Voice-A-Rooney’ is extremely powerful…I really didn’t think we could do better than the season three finale…”

However, he does love the series finale a lot.

“When we get to ‘End-A-Rooney’, everyone around were just very satisfied with it, and we’re hoping that our incredible fan base feels the same way. We try to answer as many questions that have been brought up throughout the series and give everyone a nice, emotional goodbye to a family they’ve spent the last four years with.”

“I have such a hard time separating them,” Ron admits, but it looks like he’s on board with John about the finale.

“I think that the way the series does ends for me was just so satisfying, personally and emotionally, that it really stands out as my favorite.”

All The Liv & Holden Moments on 'Liv & Maddie' To Make Your Heart Melt

Last night’s episode of Liv and Maddie just proved that Liv and Holden are THE best couple on the show.

If you missed the episode, we’ll tell you that Holden came back to the show, along with Andi and Willow to support Liv as she attempted to find her singing voice again — and while they all gave her amazing advice, it was Holden’s that truly gave us all the feels.

“You wanna know who you are? You’re Liv Rooney and you’re awesome,” Holden tells her.

“I know you’re scared, but sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith…give it a shot.”
