RJ was honored at the event with the Giving Back acknowledgement, as TMA has partnered with Friends of Californians with Disabilities.
The TMA Heller Awards recognize the industry’s talent reps – managers, agents and casting directors.

“This industry is very negative and harsh to people with disabilities, because of the idea of perfection… which technically doesn’t exist,” RJ recently shared. Watch the video below!

RJ Mitte shows off his charming smile as he leaves the Huffington Post Live offices in New York City on Friday afternoon (March 20).
Recently speaking with Wonderland magazine, the 22-year-old actor opened up about being the voice for disabled actors and advising handicapped children about their career options.
“It’s really about learning to take the responsibility that most [disabled] people wouldn’t take on,” RJ shared. “To have so much responsibility at such a young age, when most people would try to relinquish responsibility… I was not fond of relinquishing mine. I didn’t back down.”
He added, “I want to show people that yes, I speak for myself. Turning a disability into an ability… Yes I was bullied at school, but can speak about a lot of topics.”
RJ Mitte suits up sharp for the closing night premiere of The Special Need during the Reelabilities Film Festival held at The JCC Manhattan on Wednesday night (March 18) in New York City.
The 22-year-old spoke at the event after announcing his upcoming Breaking Beats DJ tour earlier in the week.
Hosted by CEG, RJ‘s upcoming tour will debut in San Diego on April 10th, and head to the big cities like New York and Las Vegas later on.
Fans will get to experience the beats at Breaking Bad themed events complete with “rock candy inspired by the blue meth seen in the show, a breakfast buffet influenced by Walt Jr.’s love for breakfast and yellow hazmat suits that Walter White and Jesse Pinkman wore while cooking product.”

The 22-year-old Breaking Bad alum just announced his Breaking Beats interactive DJ tour!
“I’m learning guitar, I’m learning piano,” RJ told Digital Spy about his love for music back in November 2013. “I have a bit of an issue as I only have one good hand and one good ear…I love music. My house is constantly filled with music – from vinyl to the thousands and thousands of song on my hard drive.”
Tickets will go on sale on Monday, February 2!
