Ryan McCartan To Release New Single Partially About Dove Cameron Relationship

Ryan McCartan is getting ready to release a new song called “Politician.”

The 27-year-old actor and musician revealed the news on his Instagram and shared what the song is about, including his past relationship with Dove Cameron.

“I wrote this song about the power of lying in love,” he wrote. “As a child I was madly in love with a man who lorded his charisma over me to manipulate me into believing his abuse of me was a positive force in my life.”

“As an adult I was madly in love with a woman who mobilized a cult of personality so freely and effectively that I get regular death threats to this day,” Ryan added. “And as a citizen I have watched a shocking percentage of my countrymen fall madly in love with a sociopathic narcissist, a relationship developing to the point where a dangerous mass of people have expressed their willingness to kill themselves and others in the name of circumstances so devoid of truth that they have become considered one of the greatest threats to our republic.”

“This song is about all of those things; and this song is also a total bop, so I can’t wait for you to hear it,” he said. The song will be out NEXT Friday, January 22nd.

One fan responded in the comments, saying that she has to unfollow Ryan for bringing up his past relationship once again.

“idk how you don’t see this is clearly abusive behavior. she literally doesn’t even talk about you and you STAY bringing her up even though you’re in a “healthy” relationship,” they wrote. “so this song is about a privileged white man who feels like everything is directly affecting him. got it.”

Check out Ryan‘s response below…

If you missed it, almost a year ago exactly, Ryan claimed that Dove “cheated on and left” him. He then wrote an open letter about their relationship and breakup.

See Ryan McCartan in Costume as Hans in Broadway's 'Frozen'

Ryan McCartan is returning to Broadway tonight in the musical Frozen and here’s your first look at him in costume as Hans!

The 26-year-old Liv & Maddie actor has previously been on Broadway in Wicked and he’s joining Ciara Renee as Elsa and McKenzie Kurtz as Anna.

The Broadway production will be introducing some changes that were made for the North American tour. In the show’s second act, Elsa and Anna will no longer sing the “For the First Time in Forever” reprise and they’ll instead perform the new duet “I Can’t Lose You.”

Kristoff, who is currently being played by Noah J. Ricketts, will also get a reprise for his song “What Do I Know About Love?” to express his growing feelings for Anna.

Anna’s second act solo song “True Love” has been cut and the act two opening number “Hygge” is being trimmed.

Ciara is best known for her work on The CW’s Legends of Tomorrow, Arrow, and The Flash. She has been seen on Broadway in Pippin and Big Fish. McKenzie is making her Broadway debut!

Dove Cameron's Ex Ryan McCartan Says They Were a Bad Match, Writes Open Letter About Their Breakup

Dove Cameron and Ryan McCartan ended their engagement over three years ago, but their breakup is now making headlines again after he accused her of cheating. Now, Ryan is speaking out again to clear up misconceptions about his and Dove‘s relationship.

Ryan took to Instagram on Thursday (January 16) and accused Dove of cheating on him at the end of their relationship. She didn’t completely address the accusations, but she spoke out on social media later that day to spread a message of positivity.

On Friday (January 17), Ryan wrote the below message on Instagram:

“I have elected to remain silent about my past because I thought it would be the most effective way to leave it where it belongs. I am no longer comfortable watching the events of my life become so darkly misconstrued. I would like to fairly and diplomatically write about this once and finally,” Ryan began in an Instagram post.

He continued, “I think Dove and I fundamentally agree about our relationship with one another. We were young, and immature. Our relationship was dysfunctional. We were a bad match.”

Dove Cameron Shares 'Beautiful' Message of Strength After Ex Ryan McCartan Brings Up Relationship Drama

Dove Cameron is seemingly alluding to the claims that her ex-fiance Ryan McCartan made about their breakup with her latest tweet… and she’s sticking to being positive.

The formerly engaged couple split in late 2016 and Ryan just made a claim, over three years later, that Dove cheated on him.

Since the split, Dove has said that Ryan was “terrible” to her.

“A lot of what I went through in that first relationship, the very low-lows, I did not make public,” Dove previously told Seventeen. “I was under the impression that I had to make everything look perfect all the time and my partner definitely put that in my ear. People thought I was sharing loads, but I hardly shared anything.”

Now, Ryan is claiming that Dove cheated on her. When asked to reveal his “proudest” moment during an Instagram Q&A, he said, “Within two weeks, my fiancée cheated on and left me, I almost died from food poisoning, and Donald Trump was elected president. I truly didn’t think I would be able to make it through that part of my life. I’m proudest of the light that came from the darkness. And my ability to survive and turn the anger and sadness I had into positive life changes and a new way forward.”

Just hours later, Dove took to her Instagram Stories to share a message of positivity for 2020 instead of addressing the claim (which you can see in the gallery). She also retweeted a message of strength on Twitter, which she called “beautiful.”

“When a toxic person can no longer control you, they will try to control how others see you. The misinformation will feel unfair, but stay above it, trusting that other people will eventually see the truth just like you did,” the message read.
