Sam Lerner‘s Geoff Schwartz got down on one knee at the beach and asked Hayley Orrantia‘s Erica to marry him in the season eight finale of The Goldbergs, which aired on Wednesday night (May 19).
Before asking her, he did make sure to ask her dad for permission, and both of their families were there to witness it!
The cast of The Goldbergs lost a beloved co-star this week.
George Segal, who played Al “Pops†Solomon on the series, passed away on March 23rd due to complications from bypass surgery, his family confirmed.
“The family is devastated to announce that this morning George Segal passed away due to complications from bypass surgery,” his wife Sonia said in a statement, via Deadline.
George‘s final episode of The Goldbergs is reportedly set to air on April 7th.
The stars who played his family on the show took to social media to remember their late co-star.
“Today we lost a legend. It was a true honor being a small part of George Segal’s amazing legacy. By pure fate, I ended up casting the perfect person to play Pops. Just like my grandfather, George was a kid at heart with a magical spark. I think these memories say it all…” Goldbergs creator Adam F Goldberg shared on Twitter.

The on-screen siblings were joined by co-stars Sam Lerner and Wendi McLendon-Covey, plus executive producer, Doug Robinson at the event.
The exhibit will feature fashion and fun from the two series, which air back to back on ABC on Wednesday nights. The stars of the show also participated in a special panel with fans and press, before checking out the exhibit themselves.
The exclusive exhibit is free and is now open to the public until November 17th, and features a curated display of costumes, footage from the Paley Archive and show art.

In the season seven premiere episode, “Vacation”, before Erica (Orrantia) and Barry (Troy Gentile) go off to college, Beverly insists the family take a road trip to go on vacation to Disneyland in Anaheim, California. But like the film, things do not go as planned as they travel across the country.
Meanwhile, Erica worries more and more about her relationship with Geoff (Sam Lerner) when he teases “we need to talk” and won’t tell her anything until the family returns from their adventure.
The Goldbergs airs TONIGHT, September 25th @ 8PM ET/PT on ABC.

The 25-year-old actress and her friends celebrated her brand new EP The Way Out.
Also in attendance were more of their The Goldbergs co-stars, Jacob Hopkins, Alexis G. Zall, and Kenny Ridwan, Calum Worthy with girlfriend Celesta DeAstis, and Olivia Sanabia.
“I cannot thank you all enough for your support for #TheWayOutEP! ✨ I have NO LABEL and NO PUBLISHING DEAL and somehow y’all helped me get this EP to #20 on the ITunes Country Album Chart in the US and #3 on the ITunes Country Album Chart in the UK!
