“Part 2 is out! We are so proud to have co written all of these little gems with some of our favorite writers,” Maddie and Tae shared on Twitter after the release.
They added, “We hope y’all feel all the feels we felt writing these. We adore you all and hope you adore these new little babies.”
The music duo just released the title track from their new EP Everywhere I’m Goin’ and dished how the song came about.
“We basically took a couple ideas and merged them into one song. I had this thought, I was sitting in my living room with [fiance] Jonah and my dog, just sitting there, ‘Oh my gosh, my whole world is in my living room and this is so great.’” Maddie said on Build. “That kind of thought merged, and then we were going to write a song like, ‘He’s as cool as California or whatever.’ We just kind of merged all these different ideas into one and it was just born that way. It was a fast write. I remember being really inspired by Johnnyswim.”

Maddie & Tae sing in beautiful gowns in a field for their brand new music video for “Die From a Broken Heart“!
The best friend duo – Maddie Marlow and Taylor Dye – opened up about the song and the concept for the visual.
“We knew that with a song like ‘Die From a Broken Heart,’ the music video needed to come from that same vulnerability and that’s exactly what we did,†Taylor said in a press release. “We went back and forth with our director Carlos Ruiz for weeks just trying to make sure we had all the tools to make this story come to life. This music video was healing for me and I hope it plays a part in someone else’s healing as well.â€
“Carlos was the best director to collaborate with on this video,†Maddie added. “He really listened to our vision and what we wanted this video to look and feel like. Carlos came up with the bones of the treatment and we filled in the details with what inspired ‘Die From a Broken Heart.’ My goal was to tell the story as honestly as possible and make people feel for either the one with her heart broken or for the best friend having to watch her go through it. Tae was so vulnerable and did an amazing job acting out her story. I’m so proud of her for going there fully, so that others can connect. Of all the videos we’ve created, ‘Die From a Broken Heart’ is the one I’m most proud of making.â€
