Sam Lerner‘s Geoff Schwartz got down on one knee at the beach and asked Hayley Orrantia‘s Erica to marry him in the season eight finale of The Goldbergs, which aired on Wednesday night (May 19).
Before asking her, he did make sure to ask her dad for permission, and both of their families were there to witness it!
The cast of The Goldbergs lost a beloved co-star this week.
George Segal, who played Al “Pops†Solomon on the series, passed away on March 23rd due to complications from bypass surgery, his family confirmed.
“The family is devastated to announce that this morning George Segal passed away due to complications from bypass surgery,” his wife Sonia said in a statement, via Deadline.
George‘s final episode of The Goldbergs is reportedly set to air on April 7th.
The stars who played his family on the show took to social media to remember their late co-star.
“Today we lost a legend. It was a true honor being a small part of George Segal’s amazing legacy. By pure fate, I ended up casting the perfect person to play Pops. Just like my grandfather, George was a kid at heart with a magical spark. I think these memories say it all…” Goldbergs creator Adam F Goldberg shared on Twitter.

Kelli Berglund will no longer be on The Goldbergs!
The 24-year-old actress had to depart from her recurring role of Ren for the upcoming eighth season due to another commitment.
While Kelli is leaving the show, the character will stay and get a major recurring part in the new season, which has already started filming.
Actress Carrie Wampler will be taking over the role, who is “a stylish, artsy, rebellious and effortless Manhattan NYC prep school girl who Erica (Hayley Orrantia) befriends at college. She’s also Barry’s (Troy Gentile) new girlfriend,” Deadline reports.
You may recognize Carrie from her recurring role of Brooke on Austin & Ally, or as Lori in Big Little Lies.
If you missed it, earlier this year Kelli joined the cast of Stephen Amell‘s new show Heels!
Hayley Orrantia and the cast of The Goldbergs are getting back to work for season eight!
The 26-year-old actress and singer decided to show fans all the precautions being taken on set due to the pandemic.
“We’re back for Season 8! Here’s a look into the #BTS of how we’re filming #TheGoldbergs during this time! Comment what else you want to see! ✨,” she captioned a video on TikTok.
Hayley showed off her trailer, how the costumes are, and everything being covered in containers and plastic to keep from being contaminated.
She also showed video of the hair and makeup trailer, riding to set with her co-star Sam Lerner and answered a question about wearing masks.

The new schedule for ABC shows has been revealed!
The network unveiled the lineup on Wednesday (June 17), revealing when each show will air when they return for the 2020/2021 season.
On the schedule include a Wednesday night comedy block with The Goldbergs, American Housewife, The Connors, and new show Call Your Mother, which co-stars Liv and Maddie‘s Joey Bragg.
Dancing with the Stars will return on Mondays for it’s 29th season. Find out the first celeb who will be competing!
Other new shows include Big Sky, with Kylie Bunbury and Natalie Alyn Lind, as well as Supermarket Sweep, hosted by Leslie Jones.
American Idol, The Bachelor, black-ish, For Life and mixed-ish will return later in the season.

In “Pretty In Pink”, Adam and Brea decide to go to prom together, but when Adam worries he won’t be Prom King, Beverly’s actions jeopardize the event.
Meanwhile, Barry teaches Erica how to be compassionate and caring when Geoff’s dad is in the hospital.

Kelli Berglund is going back to the 1980s tonight for The Goldbergs!
In “Parents Thursday”, while at school, Erica (Hayley Orrantia) attempts to fool Beverly (Wendi McLendon-Covey) into thinking Parents Weekend has been rescheduled to Parents Thursday so the family won’t attend … but the smother knows better!
Meanwhile, William Penn is doing “Romeo & Juliet,†the perfect play for Adam (Sean Giambrone) to romance Dana (Natalie Alyn Lind) until someone else gets the leading lady.
