Troye Sivan Shares Story of How He Came To Write a Song for BTS

Troye Sivan Shares Story of How He Came To Write a Song for BTS

Troye Sivan is opening up about how BTS ended up recording a song that he co-wrote.

The 24-year-old actor and singer recently shared the story of how the song came about.

“My writing crew, the crew that I wrote ‘Youth’ with, the crew that I wrote ‘Bite’ with, the crew that I wrote so many of my songs with… The first song we ever, ever, ever wrote together, at the time, it was called ‘Hologram Hearts.’ Terrible, terrible title, and we wrote it and I was like, ‘Oh cool, I actually really like writing with these people. This was really fun.’ So we kept writing, the next time we wrote was when we wrote ‘Youth’ or something like that, and we sat on this song for like six years, ‘Hologram Hearts’, completely, completely forgot about it,” Troye dished.

“Somehow, it got into the hands of the BTS boys who I love, and they loved the song. They were like, ‘Wait, we’re gonna cut this.’ And I freaked out, quickly tried to learn Korean, failed miserably,” he continued. “Somebody translated it, and I guess they changed some lyrics and stuff like that, and now it’s called ‘Louder Than Bombs’, but I didn’t hear it until it was out in the world. So I was like, ‘Oh!’ At midnight or whenever that album came out, and refreshing, refreshing with the rest of the world, because everyone is obsessed, as they should be, and now I have a song on a BTS album, and I’m really excited about it, and I love it. And they sound SO good, so much better than I ever sounded on that song. So I’m happy.”

The other writers Troye is referring to are his friends Allie X, Leland and Bram Inscore.

Ariana Grande Wants This From Troye Sivan For Her Birthday 'More Than Anything'

Ariana Grande Wants This From Troye Sivan For Her Birthday 'More Than Anything'

Ariana Grande is pleading Troye Sivan for a very specific birthday present!

The 26-year-old singer/actress opened up about working with the 24-year-old on his song “Dance To This” and a moment from the music video shoot she wants the world to see.

“He’s got the perfect diva energy, I think. But I still feel like his presence is still approachable, and so fun, and so sweet. I love his humor. I love his posts. I love everything about his presence as an artist, and also in my life as a person. He’s just one of the real ones. I really love him,” Ariana told Apple Music‘s Zane Lowe.

“I’m always nervous when friends of mine, or artists that I admire, send me something and hope that I will get on it. And I’m like, ‘Okay, I need to make sure that this is exactly what they wanted, or envisioned, or why they asked me,’” she continued. “So I’ve tried to just take my time with it and get it right. And I sent it to him and he was like, ‘Oh my God, this is what I pictured.’ And I was like, ‘Yeah.’”

“But no, we had so much fun on the video. I really… What I want more than anything, for my birthday, Troye, if you’re seeing this, is that one clip that didn’t make it to the video. And you know what I’m talking about. It was the funniest moment of my life,” Ariana added about her birthday wish. Her birthday is coming up next month on June 26th.

“I think we both were trying to twerk, or do something sexy. But the two of us… There was a table in front of us and we put our hands on the table and tried to like look back and we both fell out. He was like, ‘Please, that can’t make the cut.’ I would give anything to see it, because I’ve never in my life, in my entire life, laughed harder. It was so funny.”

Troye Sivan can’t go out into the world and promote his new single “Take Yourself Home” with live performances… so he’s doing a live performance from home!

The 24-year-old singer and his bandmates each filmed their portions from their respective homes and the video went live on YouTube on Monday, April 20.

The song was supposed to be released later this year, but Troye decided to drop it early with everything that’s going on in the world.

Troye sourced many of the visual elements for “Take Yourself Home” from freelance artists via an Instagram post. Their work can be seen in the lyric video and a trio of t-shirts. The t-shirts, designed by @jacktaylorlovatt and @Lanning, are available for pre-order and all proceeds will be donated to WHO COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund and Spotify’s COVID-19 Music Relief project.
