New App Byte is Being Dubbed 'Vine 2.0' - Find Out More!

New App Byte is Being Dubbed 'Vine 2.0' - Find Out More!

A new 6-second video app has arrived, from the creators of Vine.

The creators of the original app just unveiled their new one, called Byte.

“dear friends, today we’re bringing back 6-second looping videos and a new community for people who love them,” the app’s Twitter account shared this afternoon. “it’s called byte and it’s both familiar and new. we hope it’ll resonate with people who feel something’s been missing.”

The app is also looking for feedback on the new venture, and launched a community forum to gather ideas and suggestions from users to improve Byte.

Vine, which launched the careers of Cameron Dallas, Lele Pons, Nash Grier and more, shut down in 2017.

Today Is The Last Day To Download Your Vines - Here's How!

Vine is officially shutting down and today is the last day you can download your videos!

In October, the app announced that the four-year-old app would be shutting down and tomorrow the company is officially transitioning to standalone app Vine Camera.

This means that the app will essentially be an extension of its parent company Twitter and although you will still be able to make looping six second videos, they can only be posted directly to Twitter or downloaded to your device.

Existing Vines are also said to be remaining on the app although once Vine Camera goes live, users will not be able to download their old Vines.

In order to download old Vines, head to your profile page on the app and click the “Save Videos” option. Users will have the option to send all of their Vines to their linked email account or download them to your device.

Users with questions about the process can check out Vine’s FAQ.

Vine: The Real Reason the App is Dunzo

Vine: The Real Reason the App is Dunzo

Vine‘s fate was sealed nearly a year ago, but we just found out last week the app is dunzo in a few months.

According to industry blog Tech.Mic, over 20 top Viners got together in a secret meeting around this time last year to discuss the dying platform.

“We all started to notice our numbers became less and less, while Instagram was growing,” Amanda Cerny (4.7 million Vine followers) explained to the blog about what started the discussion.

Reportedly, the Vine stars wanted to continue creating on the app, but they had some demands: If Vine would pay the stars more money and improve some frustrating app features (like anti-bullying solutions), they would continue to make vids.

No agreement could ultimately be reached and/or the changes were moving too slow, and Viners started to put more creative energy into other apps, like Instagram and YouTube.

Ultimately, parent company Twitter announced the app will be put to rest soon.

Still, Vine — which launched the careers of Nash Grier, Shawn Mendes and Cameron Dallas — still leaves many people grateful.

“At the end of the day, I have 2.5 million YouTube followers because of Vine, I have 2 million Instagram followers because of Vine and I’m making all my money and getting auditions because of Vine,” Gabbie Hanna (4.9 million Vine followers) explained to Tech.Mic.
