Live-Action 'Mulan' Star Liu Yifei Trained an Insane Amount for Fight Scenes!

Liu Yifei put in a lot of hard work in order to perfect her stunt scenes in the upcoming live-action Mulan film!

The actress and other cast and crew members opened up in a behind-the-scenes video released this week.

“I loved creating the stunt sequences in the film,” director Niki Caro said. “The action is explosive.”

“I’ve had three months of training process,” Liu shared. “It’s quite challenging — six or seven hours a day.”

“I’ve never ever had a six-pack in my life and I’m starting to see one come through,” actor Yoson An chimed in.

“I can do more push-ups!” Liu added.

Niki said about Liu Yifei, “She’s everything an action movie hero should be, particularly when kicking ass with a sword.”

Mulan hits theaters on March 27. (See what it will be rated.)

New 'Mulan' Trailer Is Coming on Sunday, But First Watch This Teaser!

We’re days away from the release of a new trailer for Mulan and a teaser spot has been released to get fans excited for it!

The new live-action Disney film will star Yifei Liu as the title character and we’ll be watching the trailer on Sunday for sure.

Here is the film’s synopsis: When the Emperor of China issues a decree that one man per family must serve in the Imperial Army to defend the country from Northern invaders, Hua Mulan, the eldest daughter of an honored warrior, steps in to take the place of her ailing father. Masquerading as a man, Hua Jun, she is tested every step of the way and must harness her inner-strength and embrace her true potential. It is an epic journey that will transform her into an honored warrior and earn her the respect of a grateful nation…and a proud father.

Also featured in the movie are Donnie Yen as Commander Tung, Jason Scott Lee as Böri Khan, Yoson An as Cheng Honghui, Gong Li as Xianniang, and Jet Li as the Emperor.

Mulan hits theaters on March 27.

Yifei Liu is playing the title character in Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of the classic film Mulan and she is front and center on a new character poster!

The studio unveiled six character posters in total and they also feature Donnie Yen as Commander Tung, Jason Scott Lee as Böri Khan, Yoson An as Cheng Honghui, Gong Li as Xianniang, and Jet Li as the Emperor.

The Upcoming 'Mulan' Live-Action Movie Just Found Its Love Interest!

Disney’s live-action Mulan found its Chen Honghui!

New Zealand actor Yoson An, who is of Chinese descent, will play the character in the upcoming live-action remake of the animated film, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.

Yoson will play opposite Liu Yifei (known as Crystal Liu), who is playing Hua Mulan.

Yoson will play Mulan’s most important ally, and eventual love interest. (This character will differ from Li Shang, the Chinese army captain who was the main love interest in the animated film.)

Additionally, Chum Ehelepola has been cast in the role of Ramtish, who, along with Utkarsh Ambudkar‘s Skatch, will play the con-artist duo in the movie.

Mulan is set to be released in March 27, 2020, and will begin shooting in August in China and New Zealand.
