The Descendants 2 star took to Twitter earlier this week to respond to the idea of a live-action version of the 1997 classic animated film Anastasia featuring the group.
The idea was proposed by YouTubers Lucy and Lydia Connell, who wrote, “I’m calling it now. One day if they ever do a live action of Anastasia can they have @ZacEfron or @Harry_Styles as Dimitri and @DoveCameron as Anastasia!” (Anastasia and Dimitri play love interests.)
Zac Efron is opening up about an encounter with one of his biggest heroes!
During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, the 30-year-old actor revealed that he and the late Michael Jackson once chatted on the phone – and made each other cried!
Zac went on to share that High School Musical director Kenny Ortega was once on the phone with the late King of Pop and passed the phone off to Zac who went on to gush about Michael.
“I picked up the phone and I go, ‘Hello?’ and he goes, ‘Oh this is Zac from High School Musical, and I was like, ‘Uh, yeah,’” Zac shared. “And he was like, ‘Oh I love what you do. I’m a huge fan.”
Zac continued: “That made him cry. We’re both crying to each other on the phone and he ended the whole phone call conversation along the lines of, ‘Hey Zac. Isn’t it awesome? Dreams really do come true, don’t they.’”
Zac Efron is all smiles while making an appearance on The Graham Norton Show‘s New Year’s Eve spectacular, airing on New Year’s Eve (December 31).
The 49-year-old actor was joined on the big couch by his The Greatest Showman co-stars Zendaya and Hugh Jackman, as well as Gary Oldman and Doctor Foster‘s Suranne Jones.
On the show, Zac tells a genuinely alarming story about how his life almost ended thanks to Hugh: “I cycled with him in London but I’m not one to ride a bike early in the morning in traffic so it turned out to be quite dangerous,” Zac recalled. “I followed Hugh around a few cars and suddenly there was a double decker bus right in front of me.”
“I slammed on the brakes, went under the front tyre and narrowly missed death. Hugh was on the other side of the road and stuck up his thumb and just said, ‘You good? Let’s go,’” Zac concluded.
During the show, Graham asked Hugh to channel P.T. Barnum, who he plays in The Greatest Showman, to introduce all the talented guests on the couch – Watch below!
