RJ Mitte Calls Out Everyone's Assumptions About Disabilities in Hollywood

RJ Mitte suits up for the premiere of Who’s Driving Doug held at the Los Feliz 3 Cinemas on Friday night (February 26) in Los Angeles.

In a new interview, the 23-year-old actor opened up about playing a character with a completely different disability than his own, and set the record straight about people’s assumptions.

“I don’t know anything about muscular dystrophy,” RJ shared. “I play a character with a disability; it just happens to not be my disability”

He added, “No one ever thinks about it like that. They assume all disabilities are the same. They think they all go through the same things. They don’t. [Each disability] is unique in their own way. That’s something we have to evolve from.”
