Demi Lovato Was in Tears While Starting Her Grammys 2020 Performance

Demi Lovato was brought to tears as her performance began at the 2020 Grammy Awards on Sunday (January 26) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The 27-year-old singer debuted her new song “Anyone” and had to start the performance over after the was too emotional to begin singing on cue. She says was a cry for help before she overdosed.

“It’s only telling a fraction of my story, but it’s still a little bit, and it’s enough to kind of show the world where I’ve been…This song was written and recorded actually very shortly before everything happened. So I recorded the vocals for it four days before…The lyrics took on a totally different meaning,” Demi told Zane Lowe on New Music Daily on Apple Music’s Beats 1.
