Last night, we were blindsided by the news that Freeform had made the decision to cancelShadowhunters after three seasons; and just like you, the cast wasn’t prepared for it.
“We just found out too — and believe me we are as shocked as you,†Katherine shared in a message on Twitter. “Truly, this show has been a treasure. I fell in love with this story and its mythology instantly.â€
“Playing Clary has been an honor and a joy,†she adds. “She is such a special, strong lady (some might say short, redheaded and bad-tempered) — thank you for entrusting her to me and coming on this journey with us.â€

Don't forget, angels, our journey is not over yet. We still have 12 episodes to go and more story to tell. We'll share BTS photos, live tweet, and much more. Thank you for your love and support! Together we'll make this memorable. x
We’re so sad to report that Shadowhunters has been canceled by Freeform after three seasons, but we’re so happy that the network will be giving fans a proper ending to the series.
The 10 episodes for season three have already been filmed and they cover books four and five in the Mortal Instruments series. Two more episodes will be made and they will follow the sixth and final book in the series.
“We are very proud of Shadowhunters, a series that broke new ground in the genre world and became a fan favorite,†Freeform said in a statement. “However, along with our partners at Constantin, we reached the very difficult decision not to renew the show for a fourth season. But as big supporters and fans ourselves, Freeform insisted on and championed the filming of a special two-part finale that would give devoted fans a proper ending. The twelve episodes will air in spring of 2019. We want to thank our talented creators, producers, cast and crew along with our colleagues at Constantin for their hard work and dedication and to Cassie Clare for her incredible book series. We look forward to the final chapter of this breakthrough drama.â€
Noah Centineo can’t stop from smiling on the blue carpet while arriving at 2018 iHeartRadio Wango Tango held at Banc of California Stadium over the weekend in Los Angeles.
The Fosters star was joined by co-stars Hayden Byerly and Cierra Ramirez at the event, just days ahead of the series finale event of The Fosters.
Alberto Rosende shared a smiley pic on his Instagram this afternoon, commemorating another successful season of Shadowhunters.
“That’s a wrap on Season 3 of @shadowhunterstv,” he writes. “Simon, another 20 episodes chilling with you flew by!”
Alberto added, “Thank you all for your love and support that makes all the work fun and worth it! May the 4th be with you! #starwarsday #shadowhuntersseason3wrap.”
Jace and Simon are working on being on better terms this season, mostly for the sake of Clary.
Alberto Rosende, who plays Simon, recently opened up about the two guys’ relationship in this season of Shadowhunters.
“I think they’re always going to have other things on their mind just in the natural of the worlds that they live in,” he told HollywoodLife. “They both live in the Shadow World, but Jace lives in the world of being a very, very, very advanced Shadowhunter who works really hard, really takes things personally, and really cares about the world. Simon is still very young in the Shadow World, only three, four, five months, maybe. He’s still very much learning his place and how to live in a world where he can’t really get a job, and there are so many things he was taught in the regular world about how to live that he’s relearning.”
“They’re always on different pages, but because of their connection to Clary — Jace does care about her very much — which is also what we saw at the end of the episode. He does want to be that close to her in the way that Simon is. He’s a little jealous of Simon, I think,” he continued. “There is that respect also that I know we will see later on, but it’s definitely the journey of their friendship. How they go from Simon being this mundane who was in the Institute for no reason to this person who actually did give some value to the team and kind of made a place for himself. Now he’s a person who is close to the person that he loves, extremely close, and Jace knows that if he dates her that’s a package deal. But there is that tension, but there’s also that respect there that starts to build. Simon’s only jealousy towards Jace is that Jace is kind of awesome. He is! He’s like a comic book hero for Simon.
The fan favorite character from the books is coming to the small screen adaption in season three, which premieres in March on Freeform.
The first look image, from EW, finds Jordan and Simon meeting, too.
“Jordan comes into Simon’s life in a fun, unexpected way,” showrunners Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer dish about the character, played by Chai Hansen.
They add, “The two instantly hit it off, but we soon find out there’s a lot more to Jordan than meets the eye, and repercussions that affect more than just Simon.”
