Sad news for Siren fans!
The fan-favorite Freeform series has been canceled by the network after only three seasons on the air, Deadline reveals.
The cancellation news comes just two months after the season three finale aired.
Siren took viewers inside Bristol Cove—a coastal town known for its legend of once being home to mermaids. When the arrival of a mysterious girl proves this folklore all too true, the battle between man and sea takes a very vicious turn as these predatory beings return to reclaim their right to the ocean.
The show starred Eline Powell, Alex Roe, Fola Evans-Akingbola, Ian Verdun, and Rena Owen.

“It will give us a chance to dig even more into the mermaid mythology,†he said (via Entertainment Weekly). “What their lives are like, what their social structures are like… We’re really interested in the smaller moments, too — like does a mermaid know how to laugh or know what laughter is?â€

The cast of Siren step out at 2018 WonderCon over the weekend in Anaheim, Calif.
Eline Powell, Alex Roe, Sibongile Mlambo, Ian Verdun and Rena Owen all opened up about the new Freeform series, which is premiering THIS WEEK (March 29) on the network.
During the panel, creator Eric Wald opened up about the inspiration for the series and why they set it in the real world.
“There’s a supernatural element but we wanted to include as much real science as possible,” he says.
Meanwhile, Rena revealed just why the mermaids were coming back to the surface in the show.
“What brings the mermaids to the surface is that the seabeds have been stripped of their supply of food,” she says. “So they have to come to the surface in search of food, and one gets caught. It’s a very environmental factor.”
