Alessia Cara waves to cameras while leaving an interview in new Ork City on Thursday (February 14).
The 22-year-old singer stopped by Music Choice and the Elvis Duran Show to chat about her new album.
Alessia opened up about her newest song, “Out of Love”, which she wrote for a friend, and the meaning behind it all.
“The sentiment [of falling out of love] isn’t really talked about in songs,” she says. “We never really ask what was the one moment and I don’t know if we want the answer to that always but you ask it anyways.”
She went on to say that even though you have a relationship that ended in heartbreak that “it’s worth it anyway.”
“It means you’re capable of feeling something that strongly. I’d rather feel that and feel so many things than feel nothing at all. I think that’s a pretty sad life to live if you’re not willing to give so much of yourself to another person. You got to open up.”

Alessia Cara has a cool story behind her new single!
The 22-year-old songstress opened up about “Out of Love” while stopping by Late Night with Seth Meyers on Tuesday evening (January 8) in New York City.
During the show, Alessia explained that the song helped her friend to win back his ex.
“It was inspired by a friend’s break up. I know that sounds like a lie, but it really is about a friend! It was the only song I wrote that wasn’t about me,” Alessia explained.
She continued, “Basically my friend was going through a break up and asked me to write a song to help him express himself to his girlfriend…and he played her the song once it was done and now they’re back together!”

“I would say trying not to be mean to myself and be a little more confident because every time somebody compliments me, I’m like, ‘Nah that’s not true.’ But from now on I’m going to try to train myself to say thank you and just leave it at that,” Alessia explained.
