Ansel Elgort recently talked about how he wants to feel free to fall in love with other people than girlfriend Violetta Komyshan, but it’s clear that he is still very much in love with her based on these new pics.

The longtime couple stepped out for the opening night of the Broadway show Slave Play on Sunday night (October 6) in New York City.

Their relationship was put in the spotlight last week after he made those comments in an interview.

The comments then led to the online bullying of Ansel‘s West Side Story co-star Rachel Zegler, who announced a break from Twitter following the tweets she was receiving from his fans.

Let’s just start off by saying that everyone needs to be kind to one another and sending people negative messages on social media is unacceptable. We’re so sad to see that Rachel Zegler is going through this right now.

The 18-year-old actress, who will play Maria in the West Side Story movie, has announced that she’s taking a break from Twitter because of the message she has been receiving.

Rachel previously tweeted about “falling in love” with co-star Angel Elgort on-screen on the day the film wrapped last week.

“There really aren’t enough words to describe the pride I have in Ansel‘s growth and beauty and literal magic he possesses on screen and off. Falling in love with him was easy. Happy wrap mi amor; catch ya on a fire escape sometime soon,” Rachel tweeted on September 27. The tweet has since been deleted.

Since that tweet, Ansel publicly commented on how he wants to find love with people other than his girlfriend, though he’s not looking for anything sexual with anyone else. Fans have been calling Rachel a “homewrecker” and sending her inappropriate DMs, which caused her to speak out.

“the fact that i have to say something is absolutely absurd. but the DMs and the name-calling and throwing around the word homewrecker over me expressing genuine love i have for my coworker is heartbreaking and i don’t want any part of it. so peace for now, i guess. be nice,” Rachel tweeted on Thursday night (October 3). The message was deleted soon after.

One message of Rachel‘s that is still up reads, “the internet has made me upset so goodbye for a bit be nice to each other.”

Ansel Elgort‘s view on love might be different than how a lot of other people view it.

The 25-year-old actor is opening up about how he has the desire to fall in love with more people than just his girlfriend, though he isn’t looking for an intimate relationship with others.

Ansel has been dating ballerina Violetta Komyshan since they met in high school back in 2012.

“It doesn’t need to be sexual. I could be done sexually with my girlfriend,” Ansel said in a new interview with The Times. “I think we’ve been pretty clear that I want to feel free to fall in love with people and that [option] should be open, but sexually it can be closed off.”

“I’m in love with a bunch of my male friends who I’m not interested in having sex with, so why can’t I put the desire to have sex with women aside and let myself have love with women? I love [Divergent and The Fault in Our Stars co-star] Shailene Woodley and we never had anything sexual and that was great. There will probably be some sort of chemical thing at some point that you can’t help, but you just have to be disciplined and not be a f—— … We’re primitive beings,” Ansel added.

Ansel Elgort isn’t slamming the critics of his new film, The Goldfinch, but instead pointing out very politely that they’re wrong about the movie.

The 25-year-old actor shared his thoughts on his Instagram Story about the negative reviews about The Goldfinch, which also stars Nicole Kidman and Oakes Fegley.

“Critics are usually really great writers and they have to kind of choose a side,” Ansel stated in the video. “They decided that pointing out everything wrong with the film is the best way to write their reviews, their articles. They are all great articles, too. All the bad reviews are well written but there is a lot of good in the film, too.”

He continued, “The film does work and the people who see it enjoy it and are moved by it. The most important person it moved for me was my mother, and she’s not moved by all of my films. She really liked this one, which made me really like it, too.”

“So it’s still in theaters, take your mom,” Ansel added.

Ansel Elgort kind of broke a rule about not telling anyone he got the role of Tony in West Side Story.

During his appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the 25-year-old actor opened up about how he learned he got the role from director Steven Spielberg himself, and even though he couldn’t tell anyone about it – he did call his parents.

“I called my mom and dad, and cried a little bit,” Ansel admitted.

Ansel also revealed that musicals are his “first love. I saw Oklahoma! when I was 4 and decided ‘that’s me, the guy with the lasso!’”

He’s also pictured below leaving Good Morning America earlier in the week.

Miley Cyrus has made her first appearance at New York Fashion Week!

The 26-year-old singer stepped out at the Tom Ford fashion show with other stars like Ansel Elgort on Monday night (September 9) in New York City.

Some of the other stars who attended the event included models Joan Smalls and Amber Valletta, football player Russell Westbrook, fashion editor Derek Blasberg, designers Rachel Zoe and Diane Von Furstenberg, and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.

Models who walked in the show included Gigi Hadid and Kaia Gerber.

Ansel Elgort hits the red carpet for the premiere of The Goldfinch on Sunday afternoon (September 8) at the Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto, Canada.

The 25-year-old actor looked sharp in a black suit as he attended the premiere alongside co-stars Finn Wolfhard, Oakes Fegley, and Nicole Kidman at TIFF.
