Auli’i recently opened up about the similarities she shares with Amber.
“I remember reading the script and realizing Amber and I have a lot of similarities,” she toldTeen Vogue. “I think of myself as someone who is very optimistic, almost to a fault, in that I’m not as honest with myself or even with those closest to me when I need a break, or when I need help.â€
“That was so difficult for me, and as teenagers, we’re going through it,†Auli’i added seeing a mental health professional for the first time. “And Amber especially, someone who is dealing with homelessness as well as wanting to fight for her dreams to go to renowned school like Carnegie Mellon. So it’s really important to remember that teenagers and teen stories can have these really deep storylines, and can tackle all of these issues, and can touch upon them because they’re real.â€
All Together Now is currently streaming on Netflix!
Auli’i Cravalho is starring in the new Netflix movie All Together Now!
The upcoming film is based off of the book “Sorta Like a Rock Star” by Matthew Quick, and the trailer was just released.
Here’s a synopsis: Amber Appleton (Cravalho) remains an optimist even when her personal life is far less stable than it appears on the surface. A musically gifted high school student with aspirations to attend Carnegie Mellon, Amber balances her beloved high school drama club helmed by Mr. Franks (Fred Armisen) with working long hours at a donut shop to help support herself and her down-on-her-luck single mom (Justina Machado).
She also spends time at the local retirement community, giving care and attention to her favorite pessimistic resident (Carol Burnett). When new obstacles present themselves that threaten her dreams, Amber must learn to lean on the strength of her chosen family to move forward.
In the TikTok, Auli’i sang about to the following Eminem lyrics from “Those Kinda Nights”: “Seriously though, jokes aside, how you doin’? You straight? She said: ‘No, I’m bi.’ She said: ‘Are you drunk?’ I said: ‘No, I’m high. I’m checkin’ out the chick,’ she said: ‘So am I.’”
When asked by a fan whether she liked girls, she then directed a fan to that TikTok video on Twitter.

The duo will be performing a song together titled “Chasing Down the Wind.”
In “The Last Laugh”, Naomi has second thoughts about her role on Princess Elena’s Grand Council after her childhood friend, Veronica, visits and convinces her to go after her dream of becoming the captain of her own ship.
Elena of Avalor airs Friday, November 22 @ 12:30 PM ET/PT on Disney Channel and in the DisneyNOW app.
Auli’i Cravalho has booked a brand new role in upcoming Amazon series, The Power.
The series will span 10 episodes, based on Naomi Alderman’s feminist sci-fi book.
In The Power, all teenage girls in the world develop the power to electrocute people at will. It’s hereditary, it’s inbuilt, and it can’t be taken away from them. Coming alive to the thrill of pure power: the ability to hurt or even kill by releasing electrical jolts from their fingertips, they rapidly learn they can awaken the Power in older women. Soon enough nearly every woman in the world can do it. And then everything is different.
The series will center on Allie, Roxy, Tunde, and Margot Cleary-Lopez (Leslie Mann), Mayor of Seattle; loving wife and doting mother to three kids.
Auli’i will play Margot’s daughter, Jos. As Margot’s career takes flight, it’s her husband Rob and daughter Jos who privately feel the effects of her success most keenly; for one of them, where previously there was conflict now comes a greater understanding, and for the other where there was love, comes hurt and betrayal.
