Dove Cameron Teases A New Music Collab Is Coming Up

Dove Cameron is teasing us about her music!

The 24-year-old singer and actress talked about her latest song “We Belong” and her upcoming releases in a new interview with Sony.

“I feel like ['We Belong'] is more in the direction that I’m going now, than my previous songs. I feel like I’m really finding that sound. It almost gets broader and then it fine tunes,” she dished.

“I think that my sound is getting more specific, but also while I narrow in on what that is, I’m kind of trying things out still,” Dove continued. “My next release and the one after that, and then I have actually a collab coming, which I’m really excited about. I would say that they’re all more up-tempo than my previous songs.”

“‘Waste’ is up-tempo, but she’s a weird girl. It’s not like a typical up-tempo pop song, and I feel like ‘We Belong’ is a bit more commercial sounding,” she said. “Although, she’s still weird. All of my songs are always going to be a bit weird. I wouldn’t want to release them if they weren’t a bit weird.”

Dove‘s first and only collab so far, was “Remember Me” with BIA, which came out back in April. Over the summer, she also shared who her dream collaboration would be!

Dove Cameron & Kristin Chenoweth Co-Starring In Third Musical Project Together!

Dove Cameron and Kristin Chenoweth are teaming up once again – sort of!

The two blonde beauties, who have co-starred as mother and daughter in Descendants and Hairspray Live, have both been cast in an upcoming musical TV series, led by Cecily Strong and Keegan-Michael Key, TV Line reports.

The series “follows Melissa and Josh (Strong and Key), a couple who are on a backpacking trip designed to reinvigorate their relationship when they discover a magical town in which everyone acts as if they’re in a musical from the 1940s. The twosome then discover that they can’t leave said town until they find ‘true love.’”

Kristin will play Mildred, the reverend’s morally superior wife who is in everybody’s business. Reverend Layton will be played by Fred Armisen.

Dove will take on the role of Betsy, the farmer’s daughter who instantly falls for Josh.

Other big names from Broadway and more who are set to star in the musical show include Aaron Tveit, Alan Cumming, Ariana DeBose, Jaime Camil, Jane Krakowski and Ann Harada.

Despicable Me franchise writers Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio co-created the series, and Cinco will write all of the original music and serve as showrunner. The Series is also executive produced by SNL boss Lorne Michaels.

Dove Cameron Reveals What She Does When She Gets an Idea For a Song

Dove Cameron is dishing on her songwriting process!

The 24-year-old “We Belong” singer and actress spoke out about what she does when she gets a song idea.

“If an idea strikes for a song, I use the Voice Memos app within my phone. That doesn’t happen very often, where a melody will come to me and I’m like, ‘Whoa, that’s a melody I need to record,’” Dove told Story + Rain.

“Usually, it’s words that come to me, and when it’s words, I have this weird thing where I don’t trust the Notes app,” she continued. “There’s no reason for it, nothing’s ever happened, I just don’t trust it. I feel like it could just go. I’m a crazy person when it comes to notebooks and I always carry a journal with me. It has to be a beautiful journal, something unusual that I’ve never seen before. I always carry a couple of very heavy-in-the-hand pens.”

“I have another notebook for just for lists of things. It’s full of to-do-lists, grocery lists, and things that I need to do before ‘X’ amount of time. I have another notebook that’s only an external schedule. I keep everything in those three,” Dove said.

Dove Cameron Dishes On The Kind of Roles She Wants to Take

Dove Cameron is opening up about her acting career.

The 24-year-old singer and actress recently talked about what kind of roles she wants to portray.

“I came to LA full of so much emotion, and what I would have said at the time, darkness—for a kid. And grit, and anger. I had so much to express. Then, I ended up playing these very, like you said, niche-y roles. ‘Characters’, almost. One begets the next, and then someone sees you in this, and thinks… that is totally how it works,” Dove told Story + Rain.

“Right now, I’m doing two roles that I feel are very much a departure from what I’ve done in the past. But when are those movies going to be finished?!” she continued. “I think the roles I’m interested in playing are roles that are more akin to real people, somebody, maybe, who’s had a similar experience to my own. It’s a very hard thing, breaking out of a niche, and it’s also a very hard thing to change an image once it’s established.”

“I want to play roles where I feel very exposed and very challenged, roles that I don’t feel I can hide behind. A lot of the characters I’ve been able to play are characters I feel I know how to do,” Dove went on. “I want to play something a little less linear, and I want to play something that maybe I’m nervous about. A role where I get to really be ugly. I really want to be ugly and stretch myself.”

Here’s a synopsis: Driven by exciting music and performance, the story is set in the idyllic kingdom of Auradon where Ben, the benevolent teenaged son of the King and Queen (Beast and Belle from Beauty and the Beast), is poised to take the throne. His first proclamation: offer a chance at redemption to Mal, Evie, Carlos and Jay, the trouble-making offspring of Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Cruella de Vil and Jafar, who have been imprisoned on the forbidden Isle of the Lost for 20 years.

These villainous descendants are allowed into Auradon for the first time to attend prep school alongside the teenage progeny of Fairy Godmother, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Mulan. Only time will tell if these evil teens follow in the footsteps of their wicked parents!
