Elizabeth Gillies is all smiles up on stage with Sam Adegoke during the 2017 Summer Television Critics Association Press Tour on Wednesday (August 2) in Beverly Hills, Calif.
Almost the entire cast flew back from Atlanta, where they film Dynasty, to chat with press about how the reboot is different from the original series which aired in the 1980s.
The producers actually changed Jeff Colby (Adegoke), traditionally a white rich man who would marry Fallon (Gillies), to an African-American tech billionaire.
“It’s not just that he’s African-American, but he’s new money,” showrunner Josh Schwartzshared. “In the old version, the Carringtons were nouveau riche compared to the Colbys. We are flipping that dynamic.”
He adds, “Jeff is a tech billionaire who honed what was going to make him a billionaire while he worked for Blake. That’s a point of resentment for Blake. So that allows us a lot more dynamic storytelling.”
We don’t know about you, but we’re excited about all the new shows coming to The CW.
The network just dropped its first look trailers for Lucy Hale‘s new series Life Sentence, Cress Williams‘ DC show Black Lightning, the military drama Valor, and the highly-anticipated reboot of the 80s soap Dynasty, starring Elizabeth Gillies.
The promos were shown during The CW Upfronts presentation on Thursday (May 18) in New York City.

The show centers on Fallon, the charismatic, cunning, and poised to become the new COO of her father’s global energy empire – or so she thinks.
When her father, Blake Carrington, summons Fallon and her brother, Steven, home in Atlanta, Fallon is horrified to learn that the reunion isn’t to announce her promotion – but rather to make the acquaintance of their stepmother-to-be, Cristal.
Family dynasties flow through blood, and Fallon would sooner draw blood than call Cristal “Mom.”
Dynasty will air this fall on Wednesday nights on The CW.
