Earlier this year it was revealed that they would be back to work in April after a casting notice was posted, looking for an actor to portray a new lead character named Jamieson, who is described as a 17-year-old black male.

In March 2020, the cast had just started work on season two when the pandemic caused them to shut down. This is the first time everyone is back in a year, aside from the few stars who filmed the two special episodes.

In other Euphoria news, the show’s first special episode, “Part 1: Rue ‘Trouble Don’t Last Always,” was just nominated for a 2021 Peabody Award!

Zendaya is also currently nominated for a 2021 MTV Movie & TV Award for her role in Malcolm & Marie. We’ll find out if she wins in just less than two weeks on May 16th.

Justice Smith Is Slamming Comparisons Between His New Show 'Genera+ion' & 'Euphoria'

Justice Smith is not here for those comparing his new HBO Max series Genera+ion to Euphoria.

The 25-year-old actor stars as Chester in the show, which just premiered it’s first three episodes on the streaming platform.

While speaking with E! News, Justice shared that she is “its own beast” and the only way it is “similar to Euphoria in that there are teenagers on the show.”

“It’s this crazy double standard that we do as a society where we view all content that has high schoolers or teenagers in it as being a part of the same monolith,” he added about the comparisons. “But then, we don’t do that with any other generation. We don’t say that shows about people in their 30s are all alike, you know, but for some reason when it’s high schoolers these are all the same. And they’re not.”

“When you’re showcasing shows about modern times it’s like, everyone exists within the same cultural zeitgeist,” Justice continued. “So, of course, there’s gonna be like, cell phones are gonna be a thing or TikTok is gonna be a thing or makeup is gonna be a thing ’cause this is just what kids are doing nowadays.”

He also added that Genera+ion is “gay as f–k” and that they are “trying to highlight queerness and how predominate it is in generation Z.”

You can check out the trailer for the series HERE. The first three eps are out now, with the next two on March 18th, two on March 25th and one more on April 1st. Eight more episodes will comprise the second half of the season, premiering later this year.

Zendaya Struggled To Do This At The Beginning of Filming 'Euphoria'

Zendaya had a hard time channeling her emotions when she moved from Disney Channel to Euphoria.

In her new GQ cover story, the 24-year-old’s friend and Euphoria creator/director Sam Levinson shared that she struggled with being vulnerable.

“If I’m gonna be 100 percent honest,” he told the mag. “When we first started working together on Euphoria, the thing she struggled the most with was giving herself permission to be emotionally vulnerable in a scene. I don’t fault her for that.”

“When you get to the level she’s at in her career, you have to simultaneously have thick skin as an individual while also being emotionally open as an actor. It’s a real mindf–k, and I don’t envy it,” he added.

Sam continued, “She’s very protective, rightfully so. And if she doesn’t nail something or feel it on take one, she has a tendency to get very self-critical, which only further inhibits the release of emotion. So throughout the first year of Euphoria, we spent a lot of time trying to break down those barriers.”

While filming their upcoming movie Malcolm & Marie, Zendaya had one night where she couldn’t get herself to the mindset she needed to be at, and Sam helped her.

“Sam came in, and usually what he does is he sits with me,” she told GQ. “He’ll just come in. We have a groove and a process that we do, same from Euphoria, and we carry that over. He sits with me, and we just talk. Everybody knows the process, everybody’s just quiet, and everybody’s so supportive, which I appreciate. Because I feel like sh-t, just making people wait on me to get emotional.”

Euphoria's Special Episodes Part 2 On Jules Gets Release Date!

The second part of the special Euphoria episodes now has a premiere date!

It was just announced that part two will center on Jules, and it was co-written and co-produced by Hunter Schafer herself.

“F*ck Anyone Who’s Not A Sea Blob,” follows Jules (Schafer) over the Christmas holiday as she reflects on the year.

Series creator Sam Levinson, who directed and co-wrote the episode, recently opened up about working with Hunter on part two.

“I’ve been writing a movie with Hunter, which I’m very excited about, so we talk pretty often. And I called her up to get her thoughts on this episode,” he told GQ. “Several hours later, we were talking and she said something that was based on a poem she had written when she was sixteen about the ocean and its femininity and strength. And I said, ‘Well, this ought to be actual dialogue. Do you want to just write this thing together?’ Four days later, we had a draft of the episode that we co-wrote.”

“I always imagined these episodes as a two-part piece focusing on Rue and Jules separately. And there was some point in time in which I read that the character of Jules was trending on Twitter because people were debating whether she was a villain or not,” Sam added. “The idea that people could watch the show and walk away feeling that she was a villain was so appalling to me that I thought, ‘I’m gonna write an episode that forces the audience to look at the world through her eyes and understand the burden of loving an addict.’”

Euphoria part two will premiere on HBO and HBO Max on January 24th. If it’s like part one, it might come out a couple of days early on HBO Max!
