Elsie Fisher brightens up the red carpet in a yellow ensemble for the 19th Annual AFI Awards held at Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills on Friday (January 4) in Los Angeles.

The 15-year-old actress joined her Eighth Grade co-star Jake Ryan and director Bo Burnham for the event.

Speaking to Variety, Jake opened up about what he brought to his role in the film.

“[My character] Gabe is a bit of an awkward fellow, but he doesn’t care,” he shares. “He still tries to be himself and crack jokes, and that’s a lot like me. When I talk to people, I don’t tend to care what people think of me. I like to make people feel comfortable and Gabe likes to do the same.”

Jake adds, “In the chicken nugget scene, he just wants Kayla to be comfortable. He’s very considerate, like Kayla, and recognized that Kayla is shy, nervous and as awkward as he is.

Joey King keeps it cute in a bright green top while attending the Eighth Grade premiere held at Le Conte Middle School on Wednesday night (July 11) in Los Angeles.

The 18-year-old Kissing Booth star joined stars Emily Robinson, Elsie Fisher, Daniel Zolghadri, Jake Ryan and director Bo Burnham at the event.

The film centers on Kayla (Fisher), who tries to survive the last week of her disastrous eighth-grade year before leaving to start high school.

Calum Worthy, Madison Beer, Luke Benward, Carter Jenkins, Olivia Sanabia and couples Italia Ricci and Robbie Amell, and Dylan Riley Snyder and Allisyn Ashley Arm were also spotted at the screening event.
