“There’s a universally positive message, which is Sport Relief’s ethos,” James shared about the opportunity. “It’s about saying we can help, we can work together, and we can achieve something better.”
He added, “This song might lean more on the traditional songwriting side of my music, as opposed to it being all about guitars. Because of that, it felt great. It didn’t feel odd for me, and I don’t want to set myself aside from rock music or pop music. I want to belong to both.”
Currently he’s touring overseas, but James is set to return to the States this Spring for a sold-out headlining tour, including his debit at Coachella.

“It’s this endless adventure,” James recently told us. “Someone like me, who comes from this tiny little country…it’s a diverse part of the world. I love the variety. A lot great music was born here. And the crowds are different and react to different parts of the sets. I don’t do the same thing every night. There’s always a different twist on it. The mood, the environment, the atmosphere. The way that people react to that in America is a wonderful thing. It’s inspiring.”
