Kayla Maisonet is opening up about just what Stuck in the Middle meant to her.

“It means everything to me that the show focuses on showcasing that [representation],” the 18-year-old actress, who played Georgie, shared with NKD magazine recently.

Kayla adds, “There’s been a huge gap between Stuck in the Middle and the last Latino Disney family, which was on Wizards of Waverly Place. It makes me so happy that kids can watch my show and see people that look like them.”

“Growing up, whenever I’d watch TV, it was mostly kids with blonde hair and blue eyes onscreen but never anyone that looked like me,” she continues. “Representation is so important and I think Stuck in the Middle does a great job at including it.”

One of the most memorable moments for Kayla, personally, was Georgie’s Quinceanera.

“We often show[ed] traditional cooking and the family speaking in Spanish but my favorite was when we showed the cultural tradition of having a Quinceañera,” Kayla says. “It’s things like this that people have commented on and reacted so positively about.”

If you missed it, Disney has confirmed that Stuck in the Middle will end with season three.

Kayla Maisonet adds a major pop of color with her mustard pants at the premiere of Marvel’s Black Panther held at Dolby Theatre on Monday night (January 29) in Hollywood.

The Stuck in the Middle actress hit the premiere with boyfriend Nathaniel Potvin, as well as black-ish‘s Miles Brown and Marsai Martin.

Famous in Love‘s Keith Powers, The Bold Type‘s Aisha Dee and married dancers Allison Holker and Stephen “tWitch” Boss were also at the event.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s Chloe Bennet and Elizabeth Henstridge were also there, along with new Cloak & Dagger star Ally Maki.

Kayla Maisonet and boyfriend Nathaniel Potvin made it a date night out at Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Hollywood over the weekend.

The two snapped a few pics, which they shared on social media afterwards with their fans.

“Shmood @ HHN bc it’s his first time and my 1 millionth time. Thank you @universalhhn #UniversalHHN,” Kayla captioned her shot on Instagram.

Nate added, “Thanks @universalhhn for making me look like a wimp in front of my gf #universalhhn.”

If you didn’t know, Kayla and Nate have been dating since at least July. They made their red carpet debut shortly after.

The Stuck in the Middle actress is 15 today, and it seems like everyone who has ever met her wants to celebrate. Jenna‘s co-stars, rumored boyfriend, and many friends are taking to social media to wish her the best.

Isaak Presley penned a heartfelt note that will definitely make you feel things.

“Jenbug, I’ve known you for 3 years now and it has been by far the best 3 years,” he wrote. “We have had our ups and quite a few downs, but in the end, you have changed me as person so much, and it was for the better. You have been there to cheer me up when I’m down, and call me out when I’m being stupid.”
